Can somebody smarter than me explain why tv would get a rebate if there was a mass postponement of games? The channels still get to show the games when they go on so it isn’t like they are losing any revenue there.

Most broadcast contracts will have a requirement for a certain number of slots, and viewership swings wildly depending on that slot. These Sunday games get massive viewership numbers. If they are replayed on a Wednesday night, the value to the broadcaster is a fraction of the weekend slots. Best case is the contract allows pro rata reduction, but some contracts would not even allow for that.
