Premier League 2021/22 (Part 1)

Yeah. I am aware. But it’s not as if he was allowed to look at shelves other managers in the Premier League are allowed to look at. All of the players brought in were below 10 million pound. Now, it’s possible to find some really stunning gems for below 10 million pounds, it really is. But I think you and many others judge him much too harsh. He was competing with clubs like Aston Villla, and when you compare spending, his players needed then to be instant successes and then you factor in that most players in the team were not to Premier League standards ?
I mean, what do they expect, sorcery ? A manager can only do what is realistic. And I don’t think keeping Norwich up is realistic at all.

Saints holding strong 1-1, 5 minutes plus injury time to play.

But maybe I am too kind. But in my opinion, many managers are hailed for success despite having completely different check books. I find it terribly unfair.

I don’t know how much money Norwich have available to spend on players generally, or would have to spend to bring the squad up to Premier League standards. They haven’t spent as much on individual players since 16/17 and earlier, as they have done this season. But in Rashica, Kabak and Gilmour they have three fairly well thought of players. Even Gibson might be better than what they had.

There may also be issues behind the scenes that led to Farke leaving, not just the results.

My view is Farke was doing about as well as could be expected. He had them solidified as one of the best 25 clubs in England, and while not able to get a foothold in the Prem, he got them promoted from a difficult Championship.

Norwich inhabit that in between space… definitely not the managers fault, as he was doing about as expected. At the current budget they need to massively exceed expectations to stay up, though the likes of Frank at Brentford are showing minnows can punch well above their weight. Still, if Norwich want to get established in the Prem they will probably need to spend more.

From the owner perspective, they want to try to get established in the Prem and become one of the best 17 clubs in England. They are short of that now, and few can see them staying up. Whether or not the managerial change will see them improve in the next year or two remains to be seen.

More Salah misses pen.

Brilliant from Joel. And again.
