Atta boy Ben. 1-0

Ok. That was a really nice header from Keane. Nothing Pope could do.

Good delivery on both goals making the finishes straightforward.

Townsend with some strike. Wow.

He hit one from similar distance a few seasons ago v City.

Burnley falling to bits here

Now I think Burnley’s wheels have officially come off tonight.

Wow, that’s a 30-yard screamer.

Standard Townsend, he gets one of them a year.

just about had another, too. venemous strike

I am intrigued to see how they do against the better sides, as long as they don’t out do us I’m happy to see Rafa make some of those fans squirm.

At least they won’t roll over against Man U with Rafa in charge

Dunno Rafa can’t control their behaviour

Isn’t that what he’s paid to do?

Getting a bit sick of Burnley. Some of those tackles last night were horrendous. Martin Atkinson had a mare. Did fuck all about it. I’m all for letting the game flow more and I don’t want to see players screaming every time someone makes contact with them but the lighter touch approach has allowed Burnley to take the absolute piss and something’s got to be done about it.

I think a lot of managers are seeing the "let the game flow’ mantra as licence to get stuck in the more skilful teams.
I think Bielsa did it on Sunday, allowing players to see what they could get away with.
And lesser footballers will do just that
I dont think for a moment that Bielsa wanted our players injured, but breaking play with pulls and leaving a foot in are old ways of creating nervous reactions from players.

I said before that I love a hard, fair challenge. Fabinho shakes players, but fairly.
The new narrative validates thuggery from Burnley et al, including Leeds on Sunday.
Abject thuggery from Cooper a few times.

Last season Oliver made a mistake with Pickford and that allowed Richarlison to clatter Thiago.
Red card for Pickford meant Virgil was still injured, but Thiago would have been ok.
The leniency shown by Oliver fucked our season.

Now, we have Elliot sidelined because referees are unable to interpret an instruction.

Yep, I love putting in a hard tackle that makes the other guy wince. Just make sure it remains legal.

Equally, they’ll be a much sterner challenge for us than any Everton team of the last 20 years.

Yep, it’s like a full 90 minutes from Lallana. Makes you sit back and marvel and you think, maybe, just maybe, he can repeat such a feat.

But nope. That’s the one for the season.

It really does show the idiocy at the top of PGMOL. If you want to let games flow, just let games flow. Don’t talk about it. Don’t draw attention to it. Just do it.

What do they think is going to happen with teams like Burnley when they announce on the eve of a season that they will no longer be blowing for soft fouls?
