Premier League 2021/22 (Part 1)

They are a good side but let’s not get too carried away. The result today does look impressive but for 35 minutes Spurs looked better team. They scored from terrible defending twice and a massive deflection plus Spurs offered nothing second half.

My question is…

are the ‘Top6’ no more and are we back to 'Top4‘ again?

Agreed. Spurs sleepwalked through the entire second half, they played with less intensity than a training ground exercise. Tuchel also made adjustments at half and Nuno did nothing.

EDIT: “hate” is an irrational word to use in context of professional sport, but I literally hate everything about Chelsea. More than any club in PL.

Danny might have made a mistake holding on to Harry

And my question is:- Was the yellow card ,for taking off the shirt after scoring ,brought in to stop inciting the opposing supporters…if so …our fine specimen of a player didn’t incite any opposing fans…just made our fans louder…

I had to spend about 30 minutes after one game talking to an amateur ref who had sent one of our lads off for the shirt rule… our crowd is usually a dog who is fond of the goal post (the lad had a previous yellow). In the end he only recorded a yellow.

Certainly looks that way, I think Arsenal left the party a long time ago tho!

Valid points, but considering how often they did it last year I don’t think that belief is anything new to them. I actually think they have quite a bit of belief as a squad, and we must admit they are much stronger this year than they were two years ago. Even so, I get the feeling that they get results out of a piece of brilliance (or jammy shit) more often than not rather than any kind of sustained pressure or cohesive idea. The former two can get you out of jail often, but it’s not sustainable in the long term – there will eventually be a regression to the mean.

McFred has been their preferred for a while, but there was an interesting article in the athletic recently about how a team can win a title with decent players (if not standouts) in most positions except for central midfield and goalkeeper. Given their options in those areas (De Gea has been decent but is not his former self IMHO, and McFred is limited), I hope that remains. Have to say after watching Chelsea (particularly today when they won 3-0 without getting out of 2nd gear) they look much more like title contenders.

Chelsea - Man City
Brentford - Liverpool

and then we play City at Anfield before the international break.

Anyone know when the sky fixtures for November will be released? It was supposed to be on the 16.9

Very similar to City’s crowd then.

This is the point where one thinks, surely Chelsea can’t go on matching our record so far…

One would hope of course…

For all the hype around the signings and Ronaldo’s start, United look very mediocre.
Lucky to get three points.
AWB’s on Soucek and the Shaw handball were the only two stonewalls for me, but Ole has a little whine post-match because “Cristiano will never get a penalty”. Alright, Ole.

They already have six points more than they “deserve” but Wolves couldn’t take their chances and West Ham blew theirs.

Unless they keep getting lucky every week (and that isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, sadly), they are finishing fourth at best this season.

I am in the 4-5 rounds too early to judge camp. Chelsea looks in form and pretty complete. city and United not playing to their full potential yet. Arguably, we haven’t either. But yeah, so early this. But if i were to guess I would guess united around 4th place come the end of the season.

Ismaila Sarr: The movement and anticipation for both his goals was quite outstanding. At 23, Ismaila Sarr has a lot to offer and has a similar game to his Senegal team-mate Sadio Mane. Sarr’s performance came against a Norwich side who I said were doomed even after their first game of the season against Liverpool and they have shown no signs of recovery.

Norwich have lost their first five matches under Daniel Farke and a further 10 when they were previously in the Premier League. No-one has lost 15 Premier League fixtures under the same manager, so what makes Farke so special? He’s been relegated but has brought them back and now has no points on the board and still has a job? Is that because he is not the real boss?

Garth Crooks. What a total cunt this guy is.

The former manc player? and your surprised by this?

The irony of Garth Crooks trying to paint someone as incompetent.

I didn’t realize that we moved above United until last night. Then again, we’ve only conceded one and they’ve conceded around one a game — I’ll take our back four and goalkeeper over theirs any day. They may be getting results, but with four PL wins and a draw (without playing particularly well) I actually think they’re due a bit of a rut — they haven’t lost a PL away game since Anfield in January 2020, and the law of averages suggests it’s not going to last forever. Plus, aside from Rashford being out, they’ve been remarkably lucky with injuries in the last two years. Can’t wait until one of their big players is out for a month.

P.S. In Googling “the law of averages” to see what the technical meaning was, I couldn’t believe I got this example sentence.
