Premier League 2021/22 (Part 2)

Kinda what I hate about this time of year when we’re up there. It was the same in 2019. Every City game becomes agony and disappointment.

It’ll go down to the final day again, and we have to hope that Phil and Stevie can give us a miracle.

At least Chelsea lost & Everton didn’t win.

What makes people think that City will drop points against Villa who lost the last 4 games recently?

Hope. And the hope that there is hope…

It’s a bastard, this.

The only fixture I see them possibly dropping points is v West Ham. Other than that they’re walking over the rest.

EDIT: unless Stevie has some magic for us, and like Peaches said just comes down to hope.

For me, the agony comes from the matches we drew from a winning position. The one v Brighton in particular.

According to Merse, Nketiah is a goalscorer…3 goals in 17 games for Leeds in championship, 7 goals in 53 games for Arsenal in the Prem.

I think even N’gog managed better than that…does he count as a natural goalscorer too?

Will that penalty against the bitters cost us the league? :grinning::grinning:

I get that, but shit happens. The main issue is that these days - you HAVE to get well over 90 points to win the league because of the level City are at. In the past, you could comfortably win the league with points totals in the 80s, and that means dropping silly points here and there, but just being a bit more consistent than the rest of the league.

Without Pep’s City in the frame, we’d be able to absorb dropping a few points from winning positions, but as it is, you have to be close to perfect to even be in with a sniff of the league these days. It’s fucking exhausting for a fan, never mind the players themselves.

Yes and the six points thrown away, against Brighton, Chelsea and Spurs.

100% agree.

And I love our boys so much and I couldn’t be more proud of them and everything they’re achieving. My post wasn’t at all a knock, just more a nod to ‘that’s football’ and the agony of being so close!

The weird thing is objectively – maybe based on cynicism from 2019 – I expect City to win every game, but I also thought they were running away with it when I was 14 points. To be honest with you guys I never really watch City games, I usually just check the score after, because I expect to be disappointed. When they kept slipping up in 19-20 it was genuinely a surprise every time.

TL;DR: Wouldn’t be surprised if they won all their games, but I could also see a crazy result.
We may not have the points on the board, which would obviously be preferable, but the one thing that we do have is the momentum — and (now) the experience.

Tuchel blaming the pitch.

 Over in my part of the world we would say: a poor swimmer blames his swimming trunk for being too big.

“It’s always the pitch!”

Ignored it tonight… if it happens it happens I find no joy in watching them play anyhow.

Unfortunately City will win all their games now. Watford next then Leeds either side of Real - which is perfect.
Newcastle at home - another 3 easy points.
West Ham - tricky but West Ham will rest players if in Europa final.
Villa - away. villa haven’t won for 4 games.

I don’t see us dropping points either - although Spurs is tricky - but just like 3 years ago there will be a point in it.

Anyone can drop points against anyone. Newcastle are averaging 1.65 points per game since Howe took over, they won’t be a walk in the park for us or City. West Ham are a good side, and I agree that they will likely rest players if they make the EL final, but here’s hoping Eintracht keep them out of it.

Villa aren’t in great form, but they could scrounge a draw on the final day possibly. Still a ways to go and anything can happen.
