Premier League 2022/23 (Part 1)

Kepa being Kepa

Whenever I saw him play for Brighton he was easily one of their 3 best players.

Same could happen with Caicedo and even more for their World Cup winner.

Auba off again :joy:

No surprise though.

Chelsea have spent a lot of money with little thought behind the purchases

True, & that’s where good agents and supportive family members come in…to advise on best career move.

Caicedo comes to us, he suceeds.
Go to Chelsea…See Saul and Drinkwater and Barkley

Nunez scores that.

Haaland just couldn’t reach for 2-0

What is Havertz supposed to be good at?

Gap back to 5 points.

Called it.

:joy:

I don’t like a Man City win, but reluctantly, given the way it is looking for us this season, top four is the goal, and probably two spots are open (never assume, but I’m thinking Man City and Arsenal will be top two in the Prem this time).

So… Chelsea losing knocks them further back in the scramble for positions 3-4, which will presumably be contested by Newcastle, Man Utd, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea.

It is still very much doable for us, but we are all concerned about that midfield!

And the shambolic defence. And the misfiring attack.

Thank fuck that Ali is reliable.

Top 4 still doable but we’re not making it if Elliott starts in too many games.

We need Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago to start together in probably 15 out of 21 remaining games.

Not sure how many they were able to start together this season.

It’s all fantasy talk, they probably haven’t started 15 games together in the 2.5 years they’ve been together.

Unless we sign a midfielder in the next 3-4 weeks we have next to no chance.

Just my opinion, but sorting midfield out will mean the attack and defence get the support they need. We have the players in attack and midfield to be winning any game, but without a midfield, nothing works.

I agree that all parts of the team, apart from goalie, are not what they should be.
I also think getting the midfield functioning better will help the other parts.

I have been a defender of Harvey Elliott as he is a good player, and a young kid. But he looks more suited to a role in a 4231 than a 433. If he was in a 433 alongside two athletes, his defensive deficiency might not count against him so much, but then again, we are sort of saying that about all of them. If Thiago had runners alongside him… et al

The blend isn’t right. Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago have definitely been the best trio, but those days are gone. All three have their own question marks over them this season, with form, age and fitness, to one degree or another.

Caicedo, Kone, someone like that. Desperately needed now, or else top four is that much harder.

A player like that would give us something to build on and count on in the midfield. They would help the older guard give the best of what they’ve got left, and they would also give some protection to the younger players who are trying to emerge.

Of the young midfielders we have, Bajcetic already looks the best of the bunch and I think he will make it. I think Elliott is more of a 4231 player, but at this stage I’m giving him all the benefit of the doubt and backing him, as he is a young lad playing in a midfield department that has significant issues.

Interest for a few on here…

There is a way of solving this. Music reacted too later to it and now it shafts the musician but then again the record labels make their money still.

Aouch… you jinxed us, mate. :see_no_evil:
