Premier League 2022/23 (Part 1)

I reckon if Everton lose their next 10 on the bounce regardless who their manager is he might come out and say “I don’t see Everton staying up, they’re not playing well enough.”

Neville usually comes up with some weird stuff when answering those. Carra is less wild than him, more cold/rational I think.

I mean, right now, few would have us in the top 4 at the end of the season. It’s not impossible, even if it might be harder than in 20/21, but we have work to do and other things we can’t control need to click as well.

Seriously not getting this “We’re not getting top 4” mentality.
There’s still 57 points to play for, and of the few clubs capable of winning 10 on the bounce, we’re one.

Yes we’ve not been great, but when injuries clear up, watch us clean up.

It’s not a mentality, we’re not players either. Of course we’ll give it 100% to get there, both players and fans. But we’ll have to put a great run or a few good runs together. Depend on a few other things as well. I’m hopeful, but objectivelly so far, there’s not enough for me to say we’ll make it.

We’ve been less critically and obviously fucked than the 20-21 season, with fewer things to point to as obvious lights at the end of the tunnel. Despite that, we’ve somehow been even worse this season than then, picking up even fewer points at this stage of the season. In short, there are a lot fewer reasons to think this team is capable of closing the season in the same form as that one did.

Carragher has become addicted to being in the news at any cost…

In that season in which we came back we had been top at Christmas.

There is nothing at the moment to suggest we can turn around that, there isn’t much in the return of injuries eithier. Diaz is March if then, Jota takes usually about a month to get going. VVD had looked slightly better before he was injured.

Firmino seems to have disappeared.

Impossible of course not, unlikely though.

Choices.
I’ll choose to be optimistic that we’re capable of going on a lengthy unbeaten run, especially so when our injury list begins to clear.

Based on form hard to disagree with Carragher. If we have some top midfielders rather than strikers coming back from injury I’d be more optimistic.

Do you mean if we had? We don’t have any top midfielders at the club nevermind to come back from injury.

This is the saying we’ll be hearing a lot more of now when refs need to hide behind their absurd decisions.

Impressive side are Fulham, incredibly well drilled.

Reid really ought to have done better there with the breakaway, let Silva recover despite having few yards clear.

Nice effort Pereira, good stop by the spanish Pickford.

I’ve got Everton at 7/1.
I have a sneaky feeling I’ll be wishing I put more on them by 1400 tomorrow.

Better ball from Mount and Havertz taps that in.
