Premier League 2023/24 (Part 1)

I was surprised he had a Talk Sport show or is that just a set up he uses?

I don’t mind him to be fair, I never have and he is spot on with everything he says in that clip. Spurs will enjoy the win but fuck me I’d struggle to gloat about that.

Ah like the one on BBC

Except he says that they should scrap VAR. VAR is not the problem. It’s a technology and it seems to work perfectly well in other leagues and other sports. The problem is the personnel.

We all used to joke that referees were blind. Somewhat cheekily, Scottish referees are actually sponsored by Specsavers. However, the problem is that they only get one look at an incident and if they happen to be looking at something else or see it from an unfortunate angle then mistakes can be made. That’s all entirely understandable but we wanted to help them out on the occasions that they made game changing errors. VAR is that solution. Unfortunately, it turns out that our referees aren’t blind, they’re bent.

To be fair - he acknowledges the issue is with personnel. Scrapping VAR is suggested because they dont use it properly and he doesnt see them becoming competant with it anytime soon.

Neville is back to being a twat again. Questioning LFC’s statement, saying it’s a mistake, overly aggressive etc.

He can’t push it too far in case he is excluded from future interviews and press briefings. Classic client journalism.

The PL and PGMOL sound just like mafia organisations. Right up Abu Dhabi’s alley as you can transact with such organisations to achieve your desired outcomes as long as you meet the asking price

Put the boot on the other foot …Mono…if it was the Manc’s…u would be up in arms sueing everything and everyone…ranting at PGMOL, PL and anything in sight…sit down ya Manc and shut up…

Once the issue with PGMOL has been challenged, the next biased party to be tackled, is the pundits who have agendas themselves outside of football… The whole thing is a stinking mess at the moment
I really hope LFC go for them

Difference is that I have a mute button on the TV. PGMOL mange to make the game unwatchable.

I can’t believe that this is incompetence, it just can’t be true and currently I’m having a hard time taking this league seriously. I have never seen such a bad and one sided refereeing and the coincidence of city losing in the same day just makes it even worse.

  1. How can they be pushed to at least solve the obvious conflict of interests of referees officiating in UAE, back in the premier league, officiating UAE’s team or its rivals? How’s this even possible to be seen as benign?

  2. The semi automated offside rule didn’t work that badly in Qatar, no? Why waste any time?

He’s actually a member of the Labour Party. But that’s probably the same thing.

The thing to remember… the PGMOL had to seek permission from the FA for the referees to attend the Arab games - Therefore, they all complicit in fucking up the game as we once knew it…!!

It doesn’t have anything to do with dodgy refereeing decisions his team have been benefitting from for ages?

I suspect that gross incompetence is easier to prove than actual corruption. It’s funny, though. I have posted in a few places saying that it was inappropriate for officials to be refereeing in the Middle East 48 hours before for logistical reasons (rest and jet-lag) and it is incredible the number of City apologists that jump on this as me suggesting bungs.

I would really like to know if Darren England was asleep when this happened. We saw how out of it Mac Allister was when he was playing jet-lagged. Now just imagine it’s the same but they don’t even have running about on a pitch to keep them conscious?

I think it is not unreasonable to ask that PGMOL is run, as intended, as a full-time professional body for referees. That means games played in England and European or international fixtures that they are contracted for. The idea that they are free-agents for hire by any football association is completely against the reasoning behind having a professional body.

I wondered the same thing - it would make the confusion around the Diaz offside in particular more understandable.

Example:

You have a main job in the PL which earns you let’s say £1000 per game.

You are also allowed to have a side job. Travel first class to sunny VAE. Luxury hotel. Have some fun etc. and earn £4000 per game.

Is it possible to be a 100% motivated for your main job?

Not even talking about tiredness, Jetleg etc.

How high is your motivation level?
