We are in a good position now. A good position and nothing more. Still too early to call what this season will look like in 5 months when the season ends, and I think Spurs, Arsenal, City and even Villa shouldnât be ruled out as rivals, though we still have to plod away and do our part, and not drop too many points.
For once we arenât stinking the joint out on a City off-year and are in the hunt. We look to have gotten extremely lucky with our Villa away fixture: itâs in May and by the law of averages they probably wonât be going as well in general at that point, and likely their home form wonât be as formidable.
Its weird that I genuinely donât care who wins it if itâs not City, simply because I would like to actually see a legitimate season take place where a title wonât be retrospectively taken away when City are charged. If City can fuck off, the winning team will deserve it.
Thatâs not to rule City out of the equation, but they really do look a different team, and many other teams look on the up this season, not least us.

Villa are title contenders until they arenât. Theyâre bang in the race in December, but weâll see where things stand come the end of Jan.

Teams who have never been close are not title contenders until theyâve proven they are. We are still 10 or so games shy of being able to use that language.
