Here’s the second best PL XI for this season

Kelleher
Bradley Quansah Gomez Tsimikas
Endo Jones Elliot
Chiesa Nunez Jota

That club died long ago hence why they are upto there neck in shit.

The most recent one. Pogba with a cynical tackle on Naby.

It was a dreadful tackle, but it did more damage to Keane than it did to Alfe. He was already scheduled for an end of season surgery to address long standing issues with his knee, but after that tackle he still finished the game and played in the next few including an international.

Yes.
And Ronaldo on Curtis Jones…

Lets be honest though.
The Everton level of thuggery isn’t there.

Those tackles or incidents are more individual cuntism, as in Roy Keane or absolute frustration by Pogba or Ronaldo.

Sure.

But Lisandro and Casemiro are dangerous serial foul commiters. Especially Lisandro, always feel he’s got the small man syndrome and hence he goes in flying into shit challenges.

The likes of Rodri , Rice , Casemiro…

If the referee punishes them the first time they do that tactical foul bullshit. Preferably within the first 4 minutes, then that takes them down quite a bit.

The Pogba one seemed more like self-preservation. He was embarrassed at not starting the game, and was then brought on at half time in a game they were already losing 4-0 in what was a hopeless task. He quickly saw a 5th go in and just thought he didnt want to be out there anymore. Not malicious, just pathetic cowardice. The problem is there is a lot of potential for that sort of thing to happen on the weekend even if there arent that many players there with reputations for thuggery.

Very odd pick of Trent though.

I don’t think he’s had the best of seasons and Bradley played a month or so of it.

You’ve got Grav and Salah ahead of him for starters and I’d probably say Maca, VVD and Gakpo as well.

If Amorim sets out a team remotely like that disastrous no-hope midfield, it is something that will occur to quite a few players. Better to ā€˜show passion’ and take a week off than stand around and be humiliated.

It shows that performance from McFred in the 5-0 in a different light. They were required to press but never got near the ball the entire game and were mocked incessantly for their ineptitude even by their own fans. But they were a midfield that was already outnumbered by a man due to the respective formations, but then also having a forward line including Ronaldo, Bruno, and Rashford that did absolutely nothing. Yet at no point did either of them stop running. They were set up to fail, but they both did their jobs as best the could regardless and were let down by the manager and team mates.

I’m not a huge fan of Mac when he does his tackles…

Sure there’s no intent there he gets punished for it too … and that’s something that is required for the hatchet man. Quite a lot of corrupt AF referees looking to screw over Liverpool every chance they get.

The point is that you never saw Rodri , Rice getting punished the way he does.

I recall some thuggery by our reds against United over the years as well.

Gerrard in 2015 when he come on at HT, Carra’s tackle on Nani (he was fking crying), I think Masch got sent off once too and went mental at everyone after a couple of poor challenges. I think Jonjo also got sent for a bad one, then proceeded to call whiskey nose everything under the sun as he departed.

Then, when you go back 10-20 years, acceptable challenges then are clear reds in these days. I remember a couple of dodgy Kuyt two footers, and plenty from Gerrard.

Maybe the game’s just gone soft - Im sure COG thinks so…

A little BBC news round up.

2 games for Cunha.

Antonio discharged, not sure where his career goes from here.

Duran further punished for kicking bottle in anger.

Bowen out with a broken bone in his foot.

My brother is a Hammers fan, his take is they are in real trouble now. With Antonio and Bowen out for long stretches, he figures they will be fighting relegation no matter what they do with Lopetegui

The Shelvey one was a great illustration of how sometimes refs miss what actually happens and judge an incident by the outcome. In a 50-50 Jonny Evans was left in a heap screaming in agony as the ball flies away as a result of the force of Shelvey’s challenge so the ref just reads it as Shelvey putting in a leveler. But it was Evans who went in with both feet and he got there late.

This is astonishing. Neville’s had picked Liverpool to not be in the CL spots, and when asked for his reaction to his picks he says he’s happy with them and think they are mostly right with only United (picked for 3rd place) letting him down.

He has a lower half side in Spurs finishing in 6th and Forest picked for relegation. His picks were fucking dog shit and his response was ā€œyeah, that’s pretty much how the season is goingā€.

ā€˜Everything else is spot on’

City?

I think we get some insights as to why he was a disaster as a manager.
