I recall some thuggery by our reds against United over the years as well.
Gerrard in 2015 when he come on at HT, Carra’s tackle on Nani (he was fking crying), I think Masch got sent off once too and went mental at everyone after a couple of poor challenges. I think Jonjo also got sent for a bad one, then proceeded to call whiskey nose everything under the sun as he departed.
Then, when you go back 10-20 years, acceptable challenges then are clear reds in these days. I remember a couple of dodgy Kuyt two footers, and plenty from Gerrard.
Maybe the game’s just gone soft - Im sure COG thinks so…
My brother is a Hammers fan, his take is they are in real trouble now. With Antonio and Bowen out for long stretches, he figures they will be fighting relegation no matter what they do with Lopetegui
The Shelvey one was a great illustration of how sometimes refs miss what actually happens and judge an incident by the outcome. In a 50-50 Jonny Evans was left in a heap screaming in agony as the ball flies away as a result of the force of Shelvey’s challenge so the ref just reads it as Shelvey putting in a leveler. But it was Evans who went in with both feet and he got there late.
This is astonishing. Neville’s had picked Liverpool to not be in the CL spots, and when asked for his reaction to his picks he says he’s happy with them and think they are mostly right with only United (picked for 3rd place) letting him down.
He has a lower half side in Spurs finishing in 6th and Forest picked for relegation. His picks were fucking dog shit and his response was “yeah, that’s pretty much how the season is going”.
Nah, at this point he needs to be permanently put out to pasture. If you want to do fan banter, fine, stick to The Overlap and blogs etc. if you want to be one of the main football pundits on Sky Sports you need to leave that shite out. And he’s getting worse by the season.
Liverpool not falling off the cliff after Klopps departure has caused so much mental trauma to Neville he just can’t make any salient point now. Everything he now says is just more nonsensical than the last time.
The Bowen stuff makes sense, Maca rolled his foot down the side of the leg but he looked like he was struggling earlier in the match. Assume he played on his foot injury.
From another angle Macca’s trailing foot caught Bowens trailing ankle which caused it buckle/twist, not enough force to break a bone in his foot but the twisting action may have
