Premier League 2024/25 (Part 1)

Yesterday I mean.

I see we are 1/4 odds to win the title. Until we actually raise that trophy, nobody should get excited. But here’s why we are odds on favorite.

We have 50 points with 17 matches to play. Arsenal have 44 points with 16 matches to play. The maximum number of points Arsenal can win is 92. We need 93 to make sure we are champions. That means we need to win 43 points to ensure we win the title. A record of 14-1-2 or 13-4-0 gets us there. Unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility.

More likely is that Arsenal will drop points. Let’s say they drop six points through the rest of the season. Quite a feat given that they haven’t been that good. But let’s pretend. That means they would reach 86. We would need to win 37 from here. Records of 12-1-4, 11-4-2, and 10-7-0 would get us there. We’ve been winning 2.38 points per game thus far. We would need to win 2.18 ppg to get to 87. OTOH Arsenal have been winning 2.00 ppg. They would need to win 2.63 ppg to get to 86. Seems unlikely.

Now look at who we play at Anfield in our remaining fixtures

Ipswich
Wolves
Newcastle
Southampton
Everton
West Ham
Spurs
Arsenal
Crystal Palace

I think there is at least 20 points there. That gets us to 70.

Even if Arsenal win 2.4 ppg through the end of the season - a rate higher than what we’ve won thus far - that means they get to 82 points. So us winning 13 points in our eight remaining away matches doesn’t seem too much of a stretch. We can go 6-2-1 at Anfield and 4-1-3 away to win 13. 10-3-4 probably wins us the title.

Now can we still lose it? Of course. Anything can happen. But we are going to drop points. We are going to lose matches. And people shouldn’t run around with their hair on fire when we do. We’re in the driver’s seat.

Here’s hoping he can pull off a few gems here like he did there.

& 50m for Kerkez isn’t what I had in mind.

You have way too much time on your hands.

Wasn’t that the season we were top at Xmas and collapsed due to injuries?

Anyhow I agree with the overall message it’s important to just keep winning games. Ultimately if we do the job on the pitch nothing can screw us, not refs, not other teams.

It was, but it was also the season that saw 7-2 without injuries. Our opening game was a 4-3 against Leeds, and we drew 2-2 against Everton. I think there were always frailties there in that season but of course it probably is completely unrelated to how the previous season ended.

Yeah but Pickford had done a scissor on VVD.

That Everton team was top or second at the time and that Covid season was just silly in general.

Hoping for a Chelsea win tonight to put Wolves under more pressure against Arsenal on Saturday. :see_no_evil:

Sanchez trying to outshine Onana in being the worst keeper in the league.

I could have seen them chalking that off but there is less than what’s going on when Arsenal play.

And Chelsea were doing some grabbing, it’s part the reason the lad slightly goes into Sanchez as they are actually taking no notice of him.

A lot of it is wishful thinking.

But then, Chelsea need some confidence to hold their own against Man City.

Who am I kidding? They’ll get spanked anyway.

The mad thing is that they have 7 keepers in their first team squad, and Sanchez is the best
