Premier League 2024/25 (Part 1)

Spent a fortune and look worse

City can pay higher wages than Madrid. The only way they lose Beluga Boy is if he is adamant that he wants to play for the team that has won fifteen times more European Cups than his current one.

The irony is that Nuñez is a far better overall player.

But strikers are measured (by the media and other simpletons) purely by goals

Goals win games thats why.

I assume they will be a bit like Man Utd this season will Chelsea.

Or how they used to be when they beat up on the lesser sides at home and then struggled against anyone half decent.

Nice finish by Barnes.

Other than Jackson this first xi looks pretty strong. If Maresca can get them on the same page it should be able to pose problems for the best teams, but the question is whether he can do that and how much the overall dysfunction affects the ability of the other squad players to contribute effectively as needed over the course of a season.

They’ve got a good list of names.

Not sure if it’s what you can describe a team.

You also feel that if you neutralise certain players they do nothing.

Sure, but the fascinating thing is that under Potter and Poch you could look at their team sheet and be confused at how they’d brought in so many players for so much money and still had so many mediocre players playing. At least at this point, this is a group that looks good on paper.

This game has been a bit shit.

i score that maddison roll a 7/10 jeff

Not watching this today.

But I don’t think he is that bad. Shit finishing - similar to Darwin. But works his socks off. Is involved a lot.

Yeah I agree. I just think he is, or at least has been, particularly bad in front of goal that it poses a problem even if he has other qualities. He scored today though, but was only about 18 inches out so even he would have really been stretched to miss from there.

I think Jackson’s a fine player. Could do with a bit more composure in front of goal though. Once Chelsea go in the sell to buy mode again next season , a cheeky bid and we can get him.

I like him but not that much. Darwin caused enough grey hair on my head.

Nick Pope & Dan Burn

Such a weird own goal. 1-1 spurs and with Newcastle defending like this i can’t see them getting anything

We’re genuinely the only side keeping a clean sheet this weekend. I rate it.

Newcastle have looked lifeless since about the 10th minute.

gordon not so good in this game
