The cliff Chelsea have fallen off since it looked like they would mount a challenge. Oddly similar to the cliff Leicester almost fell off last season.
Media needs people to care in order to drive interest. They’re clinging to the hope that Arsenal can at least keep it somewhat close in order to avoid a situation like 19/20 where it was essentially a procession for us after Christmas.
If the gap gets to 12 or more, it will all stop and they’ll start talking more about how shit City are, how shit United are, how Chelsea have wasted a load of money, and how the Saudis are “running Newcastle responsibly and sustainably”.
That’s a very good save by Areola, just about sneaking in under that bar from Palmer.
He’s a lovely finisher Bowen.
Obviously the error is on Colwill but what is Tosin doing? He just stands and watches as Bowen shoots when he actually looks in position to challenge for the ball.
Chelsea only have 1 win in 6 coming into this game by the way - failing to win against Everton, Fulham, Ipswich, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Man City.
I keep hearing what a great job Maresca is doing but he has Chelsea fading badly and the criticisms of him that Leicester fans had (boring style, disjointed attacks, over-reliance on bland possession) seem to be seeping into Chelsea.
Pochettino was run out of the club for finishing 6th. They’re 6th right now and looking extremely fragile.
Chelsea just don’t look like doing anything when the ball’s not at Palmer’s feet.
Madueke wouldn’t even get in the West Ham side.
Sancho proving (yet again) what a waste of everyone’s time he is,
& then you got Jackson up top who looks like he’s never seen a football before.
Remember when these were title challengers? Good times.
Where has Guiu been?
It’s quite funny how useless Chelsea are.
Could probably do with Willian, even now.
Clear push on Bowen not given.
Then 20 seconds later, a jammy goal.
Rule this out VAR & let justice be served.
Shame that wasn’t ruled out simply for the shitty celebration.
Bit lucky there Chelsea, I think Guiu touched the ball when it went through to Cucurella in an offside position.
Shockingly poor refereeing here…
Ahhhhh Kudus…
Gorgeous ball in.
Nevermind, offside anyway.
You got to laugh really, the quality of goals you see in this league.

Hope we have a 10 point lead on Arsenal with them having a game in hand for a few weeks by then. But looks very difficult.
There are a few tight turnarounds in there. Imagine if we had needed to fit in Champions League play offs as well.
Oh well, one game at a time…
I would actually turn that around. If Arsenal is to make a move, it probably has to be February. If the lead is still 6 at the end of the month, Arsenal will struggle to make up that difference before the head to head in May. The last 2 games of the month are probably their best chance to close the gap.
Yeah there are only two league games in March and now that’s one for us.
What a fucking stupid schedule
On the schedule above, we play 5 times to their 3. If the gap is still 6 points then they’ve gained 6 points on us.
Agreed. If we win the derby it becomes 9, and looks ever more like a chasm.
Not technically they’ve gained 3.
One is effectively a free hit.
