Premier League 2024/25 (Part 2)

Decent hit that. 60m well spent.

Once again, the irresistible force versus immovable object effect, except both are crap

Mental collapse by Everton, two goals off fouls that were not really necessary

Claiming handball for that

Looks like Branthwaite is done.

ManU with 2 shots on goal, 2 goals. Pickford could not do much about the 2nd, but despite his usual antics yelling at his defenders, he left the door open for ManU to get back into this

Is that Obi one Chidobi up top for utd?

Hahahahahahaha

Have some balls Bobby.

LOL, ref probably cannot even figure out which ManU defender to call that on, they both fouled him

Definitely a dive too

That is fucking crazy, what an embarrassment. It’s a stonewall penalty who gives a fuck how Young goes down both defenders foul him, wow that is shocking.

Every referee in this league is absolutely fucking shite.

At first I thought there was enough by both CB’s putting their arms over him but on second glance, it does look soft and it’s typical Ashley Young with his diving motion act. Whether that merits an onfield VAR review…who knows, not my problem. My conclusion is that both sides are shite.

A pull on the shirt but the dive was blatant…

Without the dive I think that would be given.

You don’t get a much more concrete example of this than two defenders fouling weakly and an attacker diving so flamboyantly as to make the ref second-guess himself

Dive or no dive he is very clearly fouled. Its a penalty but VAR showed the onfield referee the wrong angle about 10 times in slo-mo, then the correct angle once at full speed.

Literally what one of my Man United die-hards told me years ago, while laughing at Klopp instructing his players to hold their hands and salute the Kop after drawing at home to WBA… And here I am, hoping that they will take points off Arsenal when they face them at home.

VAR conclusion: ā€œBoth teams are absolutely shiteā€

Now that we can agree on.

West Ham with the chance to leapfrog these with an 11 goal margin…let’s hope they can use this result as motivation.

That non-penalty is actually the same shit reasoning by referees as the goal they allowed Everton against us. ā€œDo we want to decide this game?ā€.

Last week they see the foul but think ā€œI don’t want to decide the result of this game by disallowing that goalā€. Of course that in effect decides the result but a referee would rather have a non-decision than a decision.

Then today Ashley Young is fouled, clear as day, big shirt pull and he dramatically falls down. It’s a penalty because a shirt pull is a foul and he was clearly held back. Referee gives it. Then the VAR referee makes him doubt himself and according to my commentary they told him to check if Maguire’s contact was ā€œimpactfulā€. THE MAIN FOUL WAS BY DE LIGT YOU FUCKING DICKHEAD. So then the VAR shows the referee an angle of Maguire multiple times in super slo-mo, convinces him he probably got it wrong and had a chance to ā€œnot change the resultā€ before very quickly flipping past the correct angle that shows the shirt pull.

We have to sort something out about the referees in this league, it’s beyond a joke. The standard of refereeing is absolutely shocking. I actually feel a bit for the onfield ref today, he got it right and the idiot on VAR talked him out of it.

These reviews need tweaking. The VAR, A/VAR should not be in the ears of the ref because all they do is influence and give reason to change his mind. Onfield ref needs to have the authority to request a review (if he’s really unsure) and make the decision by himself. I don’t know how many games I’ve watched since VAR but I can count on 1 hand how many times they’ve stuck with their original decision, whole thing is a sham.

Not for nothing but the VAR referee also spent a long time on Everton’s first goal looking at every single angle to try and figure out if there was a reason to disallow it.

I couldn’t understand why the slow mo was so concentrated on Maguire and only a very brief look at the shirt pull from the other angle… pretty sure if that was any time other than in added time and a probable game decider, the onfield decision would have stood.

It ended with a very strong away point for Manchester United.
Unfortunately, big scoring Crystal Palace has a better goal difference, so they remain at 15, even after such a big point. Thankfully for them, they look more and more safe from relegation !
