I thought that might happen.

Over his dead body.

Is this a slow and painful death or a fast and painful death?

Don’t forget that this is a different ball, too.

Arsenal can get no more than 87 points, so holding on against Toon would make it 7 wins to the title now.

Nice to see Arsenal drop points as we keep marching on. We have earned the right to switch focus to the Champions League now, with a couple of days off, then train and focus on PSG. The Prem is done, but not officially, and we will have to wait a while with only one league game in March.

The race for top four, or five, will be interesting as all the teams down to Villa have a shout.

Kelleher, Robbo and Kostas 45 minutes each, Quansah, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Nunez, Jota and Chiesa to start vs Southampton?

Or how do we expect Slot to approach this match?

Any chance for Gomez or Bradley to be involved here?

We don’t do subs at half ttime though?
I expect a fairly strong line up vs Southampton…maybe onnne ot two rotations but still resembling a strong eleven.

I don’t expect any major changes if I’m honest. He has identified the core of his team and he will stick with them whenever possible. If Bradley was fit, I’d expect him to rotate with Trent because Trent’s minutes are also being managed, so that role will likely be awarded to Quansah. Jones, Endo and Jota should get more minutes and that’s about it.

Gomez’ season is as good as over, by the way, he’s expected to be fit in May after having a surgery (on his hamstring, I think). Bradley is supposed to be out for a few weeks, my guess is end of March.

I think we will get Bradley back after the March international break. Probably means that we have to wrap Trent in cotton wool as he’s our only RB.

We hopefully take it one game at a time and use Quansah to see off the matches. Doesn’t help that Gomez got injured.

A bit disappointed that none of the academy guys have shown up to be contenders in the RB position. You would think that there’s an opportunity there but evidently the lads that are there for contention in the RB role aren’t ready. Maybe @Sweeting knows better on this.

@nobluff , mate you need to start the Southampton thread.

On this. I don’t see wholesale changes for the Southampton game. Gakpo should start the game , Diaz as well as he seems to be working his way back to form. No coach is going to bench Salah in this form.

Start Robbo for Southampton giving Tsimikas the European matches.

Mac probably can be given a break for Endo Atleast starting with Endo. I’d love to see Soboszlai getting a break but he along with Grav at this point are probably unstoppable.

I think we might well play a 4222 against Southampton though in which case Gakpo doesn’t get the call up.

Kelleher
Trent Konate VVD Tsimikas
Grav. Mac/Endo
Soboszlai Jones
Salah Diaz.

Might just see Endo getting game time for the Southampton match.

No there’s no one ready to step in. Mabaya is a good player but we saw how rusty he is now against Plymouth - injuries have limited him to less than 500 total minutes at any level since 2022.

Ramsay is out on loan and hasn’t shown anything at the senior level. Stephenson is on loan and probably not a PL prospect.

Other than that we don’t really have a ā€œproperā€ RB - the position has been filled by Terence Miles and Josh Davidson mostly neither of whom are high level prospects.

Ultinately we’ve had a crazy run of RBs (or players who have played at RB) with Trent, Conor and Jarrell. The well has to dry up every now and again.

Jones did a job at RB under Klopp in one League Cup game at home. If we talk about potential emergency alternatives to Trent, other than Quansah.

I reckon Endo could play RB.

Yeah, a real shame, he looked a real prospect back then.

Not to mention Neco Williams.
