The Southampton game is the most important game of the season. Itās a nailed-on home win under normal circumstances and should be treated as must-win.
The PSG game on the Wednesday night muddies the waters a bit. An away game in Europe against quality, in-form opposition. Might take a bit out of the legs. But this is why going out of the FA Cup is a blessing, weād be playing City probably on Sunday if we were still in it. So having a week off before the PSG/Southampton games is a real bonus.
I still expect some rotation but if it were me picking the teams Iād go weaker in the PSG game if any.
Iād play Quansah with VVD, bring in Endo and Jones for Gravenberch and Szoboslai and start Gakpo, Nunez and Salah.
That leaves Konate, Gravenberch, Szoboslai, Diaz, Jota, and either Robbo or Tsimikas fresh for Southampton. Thatās the core of the team with Trent, VVD, McAllister and Salah playing both.
I know AS will see things differently and probably prioritize the PSG game but I want that fucking PL title and everything else is background noise.
To be fair, I think if it wasnāt Southampton and we didnāt have such a large buffer, and the Champions League game wasnāt a knock-out round, I think we would probably see more emphasis on Southampton.
As it is I reckon we go full strength against PSG and then see what happens after. Probably see some rotation in-game with substitutions and everything.
Itās a bizarre turn of events that despite only having 1 league game in the entire month, we might be significantly closer to the title by the end of it with Arsenal having 2 games that both provide a very reasonable prospect of them dropping more points.
Our magic number to mathematically seal the title is currently 21 points from 10 games. By the end of the month we could very reasonably see that down to just 13 (2 draws for Arsenal against Utd and chelsea) despite only playing 1 additional game.
Nevermind getting about of 1st gear, West Ham are half asleep here and still winning against Leicester. Theyāre very literally walking past Leicester players.
And this Leicester team somehow pushed Arsenal until the 80th minute
