I canā€™t think quite where to put this, but itā€™s an interesting article about the blight of hamstring injuries in the Premier League.

Iā€™m always curious as to why some players seem to avoid injuries unless assaulted, whereas others can pull up during seemingly routine exertion.

Would it be possible to train injury risk out of players? One part of that article mentions muscles becoming cold during VAR delays, but surely that is something that can be countered? Not so much a warm-up, but a stay-warm?

They are just lumping that on VAR as my friend who worked at a PL club said they are on the limit the whole time.

Also some players arenā€™t that honest sometimes, does seem that they are longer than they used to be but again is that the sports science?

muscle injuries are far more unpredictable, and injury risk modelling far more unreliable, than most people want to admit. There is now a cottage industry of sports science people claiming to be able to model things they absolutely cannot do, and the people in positions of authority to hire these people have no ability to assess their competency or validity of their claims.

A very predictable outcome from this would be managers pushing their players beyond breaking point due to an over inflated sense of their ability to judge when players are at risk.

I know its different sport but the cousins other half is in the medical department at Leeds Rhinoā€™s. He thinks sports men are becoming too fine tuned and the body is now at its natural breaking point.
