:police_car_light: 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Starting from season 2026/27, if a player takes too long in restarting the game, possession will switch to the opposition side.

A goal kick will become a corner, a throw in will become a throw in for the opposition, and if a substituted player takes longer than 10 seconds to leave the pitch, his replacement will NOT be allowed to come on straight away and his team will have to play with one fewer player for 60 seconds and until the ball goes out.— @BBC

Is today April 1st?

The better question you should be asking yourself is, why are the footballing authorities so reluctant to switch to a model where they just monitor the minutes the ball’s actually in play?

Wonder if Daniel Farke wrote that for the BBC?

He was the one red carded yesterday for questioning the ref why the cheaters took at least 1 minute to take every throw-in

Thing is it will be applied inconsistently and slow the game even further.

One of Burnley’s come back goals was an absolute cracker, and agreed the handball thing was a complete farce. I’m not even convinced they got the decision right either.

Spurs are being totally screwed over by the refs and its not even 15mins

Another assist for Harry, but what a fine goal that is by Iwobi.

Somehow Spurs look worse under Tudor.

If the manures lose by 2 goals we will be 4th and will stay there for the week if Chelsea does not win at Arsenal. :grimacing::grimacing:

Or you could ask yourself why referees dont apply the laws of the game in an even manner. Time wasting is a yellow card offence. Strict enforcement of that would solve the problem better than changing rules

The Mancs are getting back in this game…

Its always going to be at their home ground…but both they and CP have the ability to surprise… after all the hype since Carrick was appointed, its ripe for a downer for them and CP always have the ability to beat ‘big’ teams even away from home.

Its amazing how Spurs is struggling and is an outright relegation fight. They were looking pretty good under Frank early in the season but somehow things just went amazingly south for them.

Even the commentator thinks Simons is useless.

Add that to the entire list of how shite referees are?

I like it. It’s a step in the right direction.

“Too long” needs to be defined in seconds, so we know what we are dealing with. Many of the long throws take 45+ seconds, once the ball is wiped down and the defenders are pushed up for it. If they give it a maximum amount of seconds to take the throw, it is clearer.

Similarly, some corners take a minute before they come in, once the defenders get up there and all the jostling has taken place.

The authorities can debate the maximum time and then someone on VAR should monitor it, so the poor ref on the pitch doesn’t have too much to do. A simple message in the ref’s ear if it takes too long, and the throw switches to the other side, or the corner becomes a goal kick to the other side.

I like the intent behind it, as long as the execution is done well.
