The state of football in this league is at an astonishing low, possibly all time low. Players get paid £300-400k a week not to play football, but to grapple and wrestle. To con and to deceive. To moan and complain.

It’s increasingly becoming a rugby match in the box. Risk-free football and seeing if you can score with a set piece, you see it more and more, even with us. Terrible football.

Hard to disagree with the state of the game deteriorating. But con and deceive is nothing new - at any level forever. Moan and complain again not a recently developed trend.

Yet ours against West Ham was a good advert for football, may be not defending wise but it was an enjoyable watch.
Otherwise, yep beautiful football as taking a back seat this season and I really hate this turgid grappling style of footy, when has it been legal in any part of the pitch to grab shirts put 1 hand or even worse 2 hands around a persons body?

It’s not new but it’s more prevalent now than it’s ever been, almost every other decision is contested regardless. It’s like teams just opt to play for set pieces and hope for the best, genuinely awful stuff. Managers don’t earn their pay checks either, every football match is a carbon copy of the last.
You used to have characters in the game. Now everything is just so robotically programmed - unmerited egos, it’s just shit. Look at what we’ve gone from, the likes of Rooney, Aguero, RVP, Torres, Drogba, heck even Defoe, Adebayor, Anelka and Yakubu alllllll the way to……Woltemade, Gyokeres and Sesko.
The media want to convince us all football is evolving. In what sense of the word? Simply bringing in technology and new rules to keep up with how other sports operate isn’t evolving the game. Football now is essentially a new sport to the one we grew up watching and not in a good way.

But it wasn’t like that, there was far less shirt pulling, holding and nowhere near the amount of grappling on corners, yes, there were more tackles and that is the part of the game that has been affected the most by VAR, but that is a part of the game as a tackle can be fair and is part of the game.
Holding, shirt pulling and grappling are against the laws of the game!
