Premier League 2025/26

I suggest you send your CV in quick smart - I believe @Flobs and @Scott.Jones are also under consideration.

They’ve started the in-match interviews with AFL coaches. Haven’t made it to players on the bench during play yet, but that’s because they’re not all subbed, as such, they’re often coming on and off for the entire match.

Anyways, it adds feck all and is stupid as.

Edit: what @Rooster said.

I can’t stand watching the AFL players singing the team song in the sheds post match.

And the poor coaches would rather be somewhere else so they add nuthin. Imagine a quick EPL manager chat just after they have given the poor old 4th official a bollocking. That would be wild.

That’s unfair competition. :sob:

Apart from anyone else, half time is short. The coaches and players only have around 10 minutes to discuss tactics before they need to be back on the pitch.

The last thing they need is giving nuggets of information like “we need to score more than them to win the game”. It’s not as if they will publicise their entire tactical plan.

I’d imagine they’ll send someone like the sub goalie to mouth the platitudes.

Time to get this assistant manager…

Appoint an assistant manager just to take care of this.

If we appointed Michael Owen to do it the broadcasters would soon give up asking…

That’s what a club needs to do. Just keep a mouthpiece and take the piss

its such a massive issue (not just in football either mind you, b ut thats for another day)…where ‘they’ tell you what will enhance the viewer spectacle…when most people are happy for the veil not to be lifted, most people are happy to just grab a beer or a cuppa at half time, go to the loo and come back and watch a game of football…

they essentially introduce something that actually detracts from the spectacle.

keep the viel down, keep the mystery…dont go in the rooms, the rooms are sacred, if you make the first team, thats when you enter the rooms, its not my place to see in there

i dont want Slot to have to think about what hes going to say the viewers, i want every second to be him focussed on what my team requires

and i dont want to hear what the sub thinks in the sixtieth minute, i just want to watch the game if you dont mind

Just imagine Milly having a camera and microphone shoved in his face in that Arsenal match when he was giving Klopp a spray for taking him off for Curtis.

Only for Curtis to grab the ball and work it into the box before crossing it and creating the assist which put us in front

thats why they are doing it, hoping to catch someone in the moment, which means players will be guarded, possibly overthinking…

its a passionate game, can they not understand all these little things take the passion out of the game…

i want a player to be pissed off for getting dragged, i want the honesty of a dressing room bust up because that’s what clears the air, that’s what the team needs sometimes to progress. i want the players to be themselves, express themselves, but if we want to see every minute of it unfold, we are kidding ourselves if we think we are getting a real version.

or, more pertinently, we end up effecting what the real version is.

the dressing room, its sacrosanct, its a privilige, its a sacred place, you dont get to be in it unless you belong, unless you earnt it, unless you sweat blood for the cause.

i cant help but feel people who push for this stuff, and people who want to see it, arent familiar with exactly why its such a special place…

to circle back around to the sub coming off…again, its just looking to catch someone out…as if its controversial for a player to crack the shits…its not junior sports…we are again, taking the passion out of the game. but more than that, i suspect the subs getting interviewed while the games still running, so your basically getting the celebrity, over the game, your promoting the controversy(what they hope for) over the game…

they’re in the louvre and they’re focussing on the wall, not the Mona Lisa… idiots

Oh, and the pearl clutching the moment the first person has a real moment and is then hung out for betraying their responsibility as a role model. The call in shows will be able to do days of coverage in response to that, and then in response to the response.

If the first player interviewed at half-time, delivers nothing but expletives caused by the ‘heat-of-the-moment’ scenario… will be interesting to see how the TV companies excuse their way around that..!
Next thing they will attempt to do… is change the rules of the game entirely to make their ‘footballing’ product more appealing to the watching viewers… point being - where, and more importantly, who, draws the line against this continuous erosion being brought into the game..!

I hope the first player shouts “Death to the IDF!”

I remember one of the world cups (might have been 1990) when all the players slipped in the titles of songs into their answers as a laugh. Could be a fun game for this nonsense.

French Football Federation have granted Lyon’s appeal against their relegation which in turn restores them to the Europa League and requires Palace miss out. Palace still have their own appeal pending arguing both that Textor didnt have a controlling interest in Palace and that he’s now made moves to further divest himself from Palace, but initially that does not look promising because it came later than then deadline.

This would be absolutely shit for Palace, especially considering that the last time they qualified for Europe they were denied entry as their place was given to us after our Hysel ban was overturned 1 year early

This makes their potential ban double shit for them, as the likely replacement would be Brighton - although I have never really understood how they are classified as rivals.

Might be something to do with them both being down the leagues the closest teams to one another at the time. Though Palace had success in that period so who knows.

Crawley sits in the middle but I don’t remember hearing about them much in the 90s
