Sack Race potentially…even though he hasn’t got a job.
No doubt he’s paid for the mural as an investment to allow future pies and pints of wine to be purchased as the legend of Samuel Allerdici spreads and desperate chairmen in November put out the fat call.
The west ham in my family seems to think the Paqueta decision will be out today. I reckon he’ll be done.
If Paqueta is guilty I can see that accelerating pursuit of Elliott as he’ll be who they go for to fill the gap
Guess I was wrong, set to be cleared of charges apparently
Really not a fan of that… it’s way too much.
Net transfer spend over the past nine transfer windows, including this one to date
Chelsea €174.6 million
ManU €155.0 million
Arsenal €127.9 million
Spurs €122.2 million
Liverpool €95.6 million
ManC €73.4 million
Transfer spend is only part of a club’s overall budget, but even if we shell out £140 million for Isak, we’re still in the same ballpark as Arsenal and Spurs.
Here are the last 19 transfer windows, including select continental clubs
ManU €134 million
Chelsea €117 million
ManC €100 million
Arsenal €98 million
PSG €93 million
Spurs €84 million
Liverpool €63 million
Juventus €52 million
Barcelona €33 million
Real Madrid €32 million
Bayern Munich €28 million
Probably screwed him out of a big money move to City as well. There could be more damages coming.
West Ham must be fuming, seems to remember at the time City were bidding either 80 mil or 50+Palmer, for him.
Don’t think their owners would’ve had the foresight to take Palmer, but 80 is still a lot of money. Especially for West Ham.
I know this sort of info is either: a) used to point and laugh at opposing fans at how much they’ve spent compared to us while winning nothing, or, b) used to take a dig at the ownership group, but this really does feel like at least mostly a Klopp decision.
Sure at the start he would have understood that there was some restrictions on spending, but he also seemed like one of his principles was to make do and build a group with what he had and spend big when there was a desperate need (Virg, Ali).
It might also be one of his flaws. I’m sure he realised by the end that he didn’t even come close to taking advantage of our rise after 19/20, and leaving the spending to when there’s a noticeable issue means you’re trying to buy at a low point in terms of the club’s attractiveness.
Look at Slot now. I don’t think he gives a fuck about how much is spent, so long as the club operates within FFP. Last year the entire world thought we were on a steep downward trajectory and we had limited leverage in the transfer market, and it was a case of not being able to attract the right talent because of it.
What we are doing now is what should have happened in the mid and late Klopp years, keeping the squad turning over with new players bringing the winning desire, even if they came at the cost of keeping what Klopp always referred to lovingly as his family.
As an aside, I really would be interested to see Klopp managing another club with decent finances and see whether he learnt anything from it.
How I think the owners fit in this? Hey, they struck gold with Klopp. I actually reckon they would have spent what was necessary if they were asked. Maybe I’m missing instances of reliable reports of the club knocking back Klopp, but I feel we also made some serious plays for big players that were not within our reach (IMO partly because we didn’t attempt the transfer when the club was in the ascendency). We shall see if (assuming we make this Isak move) this season’s big spending is like the owners clearing the ‘squad refresh’ backlog with new players that we maybe should have done a bit more regularly under Klopp, or if this is the new norm and we see big spending each season.
100%
I’ve been banging on for ages about turning over 3-5 players in the squad every season. Group goes stale if changes aren’t occuring and loyalty can be a fault when it comes to staying at the top when it comes at the expense of making these changes. The Paisley-Shankly comparison with Klopp and Slot works on a number of levels.
Bashundhara Kings is our version of sportswashing club. Their owner Bashundhara Group is a conglomerate of consumer products, media, properties business. The media outlets are spawning grounds for misinformation and disinformation, while the property business long used intimidation, harassment, and murder to gain lucrative lands in/around Dhaka. The owner’s son is accused of murder, and rape.

Sign a new contract Ibou! You just know Madrid can’t compare
Not when John W Henry sticks a couple of quid on next summer.
Also considering their stadium can be empty at times why are Man City charging that?
Because the season ticket holder doesn’t have to show up?
That’s true but who is paying errr yeah got ya.
