Not when John W Henry sticks a couple of quid on next summer.

Also considering their stadium can be empty at times why are Man City charging that?

Because the season ticket holder doesn’t have to show up?

Perhaps, Tottenham Hotspur can under the leading from Thomas Frank do qualified for Europa League or Champions League via the table of PL.

These are just friendlies so judge what you will. Spurs however will be tougher defensively you’d expect.

I’d be more concerned if I was Arsenal moaning about a pre season friendly ffs.

This guy is a menace who cannot be stopped

If he further damages that clubs chances of ever returning to the PL that’s fine by me.

Even if it’s just 10, it is still a nice human touch. In this day and age where money is all that matters in football clubs, ideals not so much (fans have those still, the clubs not so much), I think it’s something that should be applauded no matter how many they are. Even if viewed through a cynical lens of PR and cost-benefit (and no doubt you are right that the calculus includes that), this is the sort of PR that I can nod at. If viewed through such a lens, most PR from clubs is emotional gimmicks where players are sent to go visit kids at hospital and take photos to show how nice they are, which is easilly seen through propaganda ploys (but obviously nice for the kids, so it’s good that they do it, don’t misunderstand; though I would have prefered if they did it for non-PR reasons myself and did not take official pictures of it) that costs nothing, but creates good will. At least this has a tiny financial cost, so better than usual.

Also, Sunderland is not among the richest clubs, so then it is more pleasing than usual. To me, anyway.

I read a comment that said they had to be accompanied by their parents to qualify

Taxi.. :person_raising_hand:

I doubt it’s even 10 people - 85 is very old for that part of the world and it’s even less likely that fans of that age would still be season ticket holders for last 3 years.

Going be about 2-3 people.

Regardless what area of the country it is… unless like Liverpool they’ve got 140 year olds attending.

Or London where 180 year olds regularly spend 500 pound on lunch (allegedly).

Sunderland do a decent thing, irregardless of numbers.
Then the ghost of a cynical old cunt invades minds and makes them question how decent the measure even is.
If Liverpool did such an altruistic job, said cynics would be wanking all over the brilliant gesture.

Well done Sunderland

It’s bigging it up thats the issue here. It’s likely 1 or 2 season tickets and they are clearly looking to milk the exposure/press when they could have just informed the individuals in question - even got you clapping, FFS.
