To me it just looked like Enzo slipped, completely accidental thus allowing a perfectly good goal to stand.
All this interfering/affecting oneās action/line of vision is a load of bollocks anyway and needs scrapping.

This is the worst set of big refereeing decisions that I can remember seeing for the beginning of any PL season. Itās not just worse, itās the worst ever.
And I watch the referees start bleating about oh this is taking a toll now mental health and physical wellbeing and what not.

ā First, the Dorgu decision. The TV angle creates the impression Haaland is ahead of the United full-back and therefore in an offside position. Had we left the decision to the human eye, the decision to disallow the goal would have stood. This was explained to the referees a couple of years ago and involved the word āparallaxā. No, me neither.
The SAOT in the Premier League is slower than the system used at the World Cup and can go awry in a crowd scene, but in cases such as this is unerringly accurate.
But aside from the factual positions of Haaland and Dorgu, there is a subjective decision too, as Enzo Fernandez dives towards the ball as it flashes across goal.
Had he touched it, he would have been offside. He didnāt, but thereās also an argument he affected the ability of United defender Lisandro Martinez to play the ball by being in his line of vision.
United have a case, but Martinez can see the cross all the way, and the evidence would need to be more compelling for VAR to intervene.
On the field, it is highly likely that Fernandezās actions were not given much consideration because the assistant was certain Haaland was offside. As a result, the VAR was being asked to judge whether the match officials had made a clear error, when in reality they had not formed a judgement at all.
In these cases, it would make more sense to have an on-field review, so the referee can revisit the incident in its entirety, but officials are also under intense pressure to make decisions quickly, and for the VAR team not to intervene unless absolutely necessary.
I suspect Michael Oliver would have allowed the goal to stand had he watched all the replays, but it would have been a marginal call that could have gone either way.ā

There is also an argument that the keeper would have prepared for the initial header rather than Haaland. Iām sort of reminded of that incident where a goal was ruled out as offside because Robertson ducked out of the way so as not to interfere with it. Apparently that was offside, even though his action was the polar opposite.
Do you think with this, they fucked up over the Foden incident and wanted to give a shit decision the other way to even up?

Donāt remind me. I meant in multiple matches. The Ali penalty, the Cody non-penalty, the Arsenal penalty last night. The non calls in ArsenalVs Chelsea, the Forest vs Spurs Neco goal disallowed, and now the Foden red card and the offside Haaland goal.
Did I get them all?

Itās a terrible decision, but I think these decisions are inevitable when the rules and ref guidance are written to be as prescriptive as they are. Every time there is a high profile mistake the authorities approach trying to fix it as just as a case of adding more clauses giving the refs even more precise criteria to apply that become increasingly impossible to apply to the actual real world.
