What is the difference? Ram somebody in the back or kick their legs? Both off the ball violence no? Send both off or neither, in my opinion.
Personally I´d book both and tell them to stop being silly but in modern football I´d imagine sending them off would be the way.

That Ram can be interpreted as âboth players coming togetherâ or 'YalcouyĂŠ couldnât stop his run anymoreâ. Worst case it was to annoy his opponent but definitely not to hurt or injure Rice.
A foul but definitely not a booking.
Rices kick was cynical and his intention was revenge. Think about it - heâs chasing him to kick him. And a kick to the leg or angle can definitely cause injury. Violent conduct!

The nonsense of football nowadays that you can do that unpunished. If you randomly did in the street you´d be arrested for assault same as if you randomly kicked somebody.

YalcouyĂŠ was in full speed when Rice had the ball so it can be interpreted as a coming together. Bit of a foul. A yellow can be given but since itâs a contact sport itâs not a must.
Declan Rice - just another overrated english player and crybaby when things are not going his way - chased the opponent to kick and hurt him. Revenge foul off the ball (like really off the ball - not the âball was gone for a secondâ thing). Cynical violent conduct - no room for interpretation. Red card.

Not often but I agree with Liverdinner.
Did Rice endanger the safety of the player and is it violent conduct, for me neither, have I seen players sent off for similar, yes.
Look at Fodenâs sending off, less contact that what Rice did, but again, the contact was minimal and not forceful enough for violent conduct and he should have received a yellow, same as Rice.
What Rice did was similar to when Beckham got sent off for on Simeone, yes intentional but ffs it never endangered anyone.
I do think the game has gone too soft, you see a player challenge for the ball win it but as part of the action steps on the other players foot and you see freekicks given and even yellow cards, there is incidental contact in the sport.

Questions about how robust a challenge for the ball are you allowed to make is different from are you allowed to just kick a guy off the ball. Itâs an insane conversation to even be had.

The game hasnât âgone softâ unless you are pining for the middle ages, in which case you may also miss witch trials, burning heretics and random killing of peasants.
Since the laws have been written down itâs never been acceptable to assault an opponent off the ball. If that were ok, youâd have multiple violent incidents all over the pitch. Refereeing would be impossible and the game would be a farce.
