Project Big Picture - Premier League overhaul

I actually thought it was with the FA anyhow, I know Stonewall has come in for some criticism but under Simon who I know it’s become more professional in their approach.

I know our amateur club do it every year, and as I have said it’s take it or leave it, no pressure. But as a gay male it did make me feel more included if some of my club were wearing them.

If that’s supposed to be funny, I can’t laugh at it. Why do you think no active player has come out here? With about 600 active players currently—I just looked it up—even if we only assume 5%, that would be around 30 players. Matty said it’s probably 7%. You can do the math yourself. We have them, had them, and will have them. It’s completely normal, just like right- and left-handedness.

Do you really think that those who do it voluntarily won’t be insulted? The problem here probably lies more in the fact that when you have Arab owners, owners close to Trump, etc., there’s a lot of pressure on them. Normally, it shouldn’t be a problem to show solidarity with your teammates or a larger fan base. I really don’t understand how anyone could feel forced to do so. It’s a team sport that should be there for everyone.

I always thought it was the FA forcing it down their throats not gays, and thank you for your clarification, I did think players had to wear the armbands etc.

Laces aren’t….Armbands would be related to captains but again everything is selective not compulsory.

It’s hard, I never like being told what to wear and what I have to support, I would hope players have the strength of character to wear appropriate pieces of clothing apparel in support, but with what Livvy says in her post it is sad if people/fans insult them.
