Religion in all its Forms

Philosopher kings for the win.

I am still hopeful they’ll be along very soon…

Quote from Blair “In seeking this path of truth, lit by God’s love and paved by God’s grace, the church can be the insistent spiritual voice that makes globalisation our servant, not our master.”

Shortly after converting to Catholicism, I was raised a Catholic, not practiced in over 30+ years but I still have a natural affiliation with it, and can honestly say this cunt can fuck off with his poison, just like the fake ass Pope they have now

One of the things I hate most of all about religion is the proselytising. Islam, Christianity, whatever…just fuck off with any attempts to convert people. Let people find their own “way” or not, as the case may be.

One of the issues I have with some engagement here is that, on occasion, those who reject religion and the idea of a God or Gods, have come across as proselytising on behalf of atheism.

That can fuck off too.

People should be free to believe what they want provided it doesn’t harm others or contravene fundamental human rights and societal norms.

For many, religious belief provides considerable comfort and enrichment and can also be a considerable force for good. Charity, community, giving young people a sense of belonging and moral code.

Let’s not be too contemptuous of what “way” others feel speaks to them.

I agree. When non believers preach the virtues of atheism, It comes off as being guilty of the same proselytizing as what is being done with religions like christianity, islam etc.

No not atheists , I don’t recall saying they were , but being masonic and members of such illustrious events as bilderberg and Davos , and having such lunches at Bohemian grove etc maybe instead of looking at the fake aspects of what they portray as their religion to the general populace and look at the real driving force of their belief, because I’ll state this , it’s completely different to what normal Christians believe in

I think the ‘proselytising’ of Atheism is merely an attempt to keep religion the fuck out of the public sphere. That is the position of any prominent atheist you can mention - Dawkins, Hitchins, Dilahunty etc. They all say they don’t care what you believe in the privacy of your own life.

I’m the same. I honestly don’t care what anyone thinks. If you want to live your life as if a celestial entity is monitoring you and listening to your worries, that’s up to you.

However, as soon as your religion starts demanding tax breaks, the right to indoctrinate children, interfere in public policy, in health policy, tries to occupy a position of moral expertise, demands representation in government and parliament, tries to set out what media, art, literature we can enjoy, and starts generally interfering in other people’s lives, then we have a problem. It’s religion in this form that most atheists kick off about.

At the end of the day, I’m not knocking on anyone’s door bothering them with the good news about Atheism. Even Dawkins, who has a reputation for Atheistic intolerance, is primarily concerned with keeping religion out of science, and arena in which it has nothing to offer.

Lol keeping religion out of science , but try keeping science out of religion

What ‘cho mean?

Nail on head. I grew up around church and hated the arrogant self-righteousness of ‘the saved’ trying to reach ‘the lost’. Maybe explains why I’m oversensitive to the atheists on a crusade here, being dismissive of other’s lived experience

Religion in general despite whatever deity it is , basically just requires faith, it does not ask you to disprove it , it does not ask you to seek a replacement, it does not even look to say “sorry I don’t know the answer to that question” in case people decide to pray/meditate on a personal note, it’s whole notion is based on belief and how people find the answer within themselves is theirs and theirs alone to take comfort in.

Science on the other hand, is controlled by those with interests, it now fits a narrative that science can go out of the window and experts who oppose the establishments narrative (create a false illusion if needs be) find themselves isolated from their area of expertise, science nowadays has established an authoritarian status that it can never be wrong, because the acolytes control the narrative.

Religion only has to be right once by the logic of the argument here and it’s simply the same old question, if god is real why don’t he prove it and show himself etc etc , science on the other hand can gives a 100% answer that is undeniable , except when it’s proven wrong and then they can spin it and say new studies have found etc …which is all fair and good ,but the trouble with science nowadays imo is that it seems to be developing into the very similar persona of what your version of a god/religion is…if god can’t do these things then science will, but science will only make these things possible if the establishment allows them so they can milk the system.

Also just as a sidenote to the argument if there was a god etc why don’t he prove it etc…then from his perspective what if every couple of hundred years/millennia he was asked this every time, at first it might be novel to him, but literally every time society moves forward and they leave religion behind and then the enlightened who know better than those who follow a religion demand that a person’s god proved that he exists just to satisfy their own desire to be smug and appear more intelligent to those fools beneath them that subscribe to religion…the only answer I could think of is it’s pretty boring being a god being asked this every time I’d imagine, but the only positive thing you can be sure of is , that in those final moments of your life just before you fade into nothingness everything you doubt will be revealed to you…unless science can prove me wrong
