Don’t care if he keeps playing like that.

What do people expect him to say?
I’d be happy if I score one or two and earn enough to open my own plumbing business?
He’s 17 ffs! What were we all doing at that age? I was in a punk band playing Ramones songs.

Came across very well in his interview, reach for the stars, put pressure on himself but lived up to it today.

Keep giving interviews if you perform like that after them

All of them never get serious minutes and aren’t considered first-team players like Rio is now, except Ibe, and especially with Ibe, if he believed in himself like Rio, maybe his mentality problem wouldn’t have happened.

I’d pefer…

I’m still young, and I’m happy to be around the 1st team, training and playing with people who have been there and done it, i know i will learn a lot from them.
i hope to be here for a long time and win many trophies in the future with LFC"

i fear he’s putting pressure on himself by saying what he said, plus every FB will be looking to hit him hard now, “how’d you like that Ballon D’Or winner?”

Stupid

Woodburn, Brewster and Doak easily had the same hype from parts of the fanbase as Rio has now.

I’ve seen too many youngsters ‘dissappear’ after a good start in the first team in the last 20 years.

He’s a 17 year old boy. Of course he’s not media savvy, of course he’s going to say dumb shit, that’s what 17 yr olds do.
Be happy he didn’t try to sell you a pic of his dick he did on chat gpt, or ask you how many grapes you can stuff in your mouth at the same time.

If you don’t see the difference between them, it’s your knowledge issue. I never saw that potential in Woodburn, while you could easily check again about Doak - it’s very recent. Of course, Rio in his early days could’ve been another failure. But he’s never been in the same package as Woodburn or Doak.

Called us the biggest and best club in the world post match.

Love that attitude

all footballers are taught to be media savvy from an early age…

Sadly, this privilege has not been extended to POTYs.

The first two no, Doak maybe for about 15 minutes before it became obvious to everyone that he cannot run without his head pointing directly at the ground.

Rio has more talent in his little toe than the three of them put together.

I remember Gerrard’s first couple of appearances, and you could just tell.
Same with Rio. He’s got it.

True, but I thought that I could just tell from the first couple of appearances of Pacheco…

I watched the Sky interview…just a happy kid talking about dreams. A very down to earth young man. There is nothing wrong with that, and no need to get the knickers in a twist.

Honestly one of my issues with young players, especially some at Liverpool, is they are too nice. You have to have a bit of cockiness to make it at the elite level. I remember Jones at a similar age scoring against Everton and then saying something like “I should be in the first team” at a time when we were getting 90+ pts.

Cockiness - even to the point of delusion - is sometimes necessary.
