Rio NGUMOHA: 2026/27

Still no goals scored as a RW :head_shaking_horizontally:

It’s ok. He’ll be moved back to LW next season if Cody leaves and we sign a new RW.

Was Robben’s at the time when he ā€œcouldn’t play on the leftā€?

:joy:

By then he won’t be able to play on the left .

It’s not so much about raw pace or directness that troubled their poor LB last night, but more to do with how quickly he is to shift the ball from out his feet.

I don’t watch enough La Liga to know how many wingers there are like Rio that play on the right, but he just never looked set or prepared to stop him.

Iraola needs to be able make in game changes and adjustments, and we need flexibility in the case of injuries.

Basically we need four players - at the minute that’s Barcola, Munoz, Rio and Gakpo - who are comfortable left and right.

The way he moves with the ball is starting to remind me of Kvaratskhelia. Minus the step-overs.

At this rate I hope that the club will give him something longer than a 5-year contract.

For a player like Ngumoha, if things go as planned in the next few years, the next contract extension is almost surely not the contract he will still be on when he’s 23-24. So there could be a few. Sure, it will be nice if we reach an agreement soon, but that contract even if it’s a 5-year deal, will probably be renegotiated and improved, if progression is there. So the length of this one isn’t that crucial if it’s 4 years, 5 or more. It’s important to keep it balanced and as always, it needs to suit both parties.
