Roberto FIRMINO: 2020/21

Bobby:

“Especially for the Liverpool team, which has always been very… I won’t say dependent on the fans, but it made a lot of difference. Playing with the fans, the feeling is incredible. The adrenaline, the atmosphere they give us. They’re certainly one more player on the pitch. But we can’t make excuses for that. We already adapted, we’re used to it. Anyway, of course we pray for that, we believe it will soon pass and they’ll return to the stadiums to encourage us and help us on the pitch.”

Interesting that it is Firmino who says this, as I’ve thought since long that he is the single most affected player in our squad by the lack of atmosphere around the grounds.

Regardless of form id still start him over Origi. Because if he has one of those games then Salah and Mane are unstoppable.
Theres no doubt LFC miss the crowd more than anyone.

@Zoran what are you going on about?
I’m only going to take 1 example from above but the whole lot is questionable, you seem to be answering questions that haven’t been put.

I mean what is unfortuneate for Bobby? What was always going to happen?

Missing the atmosphere? Tell him to play fucking Russ Abbot on his headphones.

Pathetic excuse, not just for Bobby but for anyone.

I was not quoting any post above, just thinking out loud. Unfortunate that all this “Bobby love” which took a while for a good portion of fans will quickly disappear once his level starts dropping. A lot quicker than with some other players, the types of players which fans generally warm to a lot more (and I understand it). I just don’t like these radical reactions and counter reactions. From “long live a proper number 9” to “long live a false 9” to “scrap the false 9, get us a player who doesn’t pass”. We can play Klopp’s football with different variations in certain positions. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a false 9. Lewandowski wasn’t really that. The role isn’t the problem. We’ll hopefully add a bit of quality like we did with Jota. Maybe even a proper striker, though most probably not such a big name. We can’t do that at the moment unless someone of the front 3 leaves. Which it doesn’t seem like it will happen next summer.

Still feel Bobby will get his mojo back, but to do this he needs stop coming too deep for the ball and to start restricting his movement ti the final 3rd if the pitch.

I always see him come alive on the edge of the box, with a quick turn or intricate one, two’s aka Gini’s goal against West Ham.

For this to work he needs movement around him and that us for me part if what we as a team have been missing this year.

Really disappointing of him.

Seems to be a thing with him. Quite hesitant to shoot. Jota would have it the back of the net with that

I’ve never been a big fan of Booby’s mainly because he only seems to gel with one player at a time. 1st was Coutinho then Salah. His fixation really feels like it stunts our game. However he will be impossible to replace like for like. That’s probably why those like me feel that the future lies with out and out strikers and a proper 10 I think bobby can play the 'proper 10 if asked.

Where he beats 3 defenders or pulls 3 defenders out of position, he would be a beast if he concentrated on that but so rarely do we see him between the opposition lines he’s either on the shoulder of a defender or infront of our 6.

Not true. It’s not just Salah, those three together act in unison.

That’s not true Firmino often ignores the simple solution to Mané and insists on turning taking 3 to 5 touches to pass to Salah. He does favor 1 player at a time.

Wrong thread?

Bobby needs a little rest to get his form back it’s sad to see him underperforming.

PS I love boobies.

That’s something I heard for the first time.

Not sure that there was anything pathetic or even particularly controversial about Bobby’s comments. He explicitly says it’s not a justification or excuse for the results, but that it’s something they miss.

I think we can’t really have it both ways on this. We pride ourselves on the Anfield atmosphere/aura, the unique relationship between players and fans, and the privilege it is to represent the club and those fans. When that’s taken away, I think it’s totally fair for our players to feel the difference and miss it (cf. City players who seem to just get on with their dispassionate day job in between bunga bunga parties).

We don’t even particularly like watching the broadcast of the sport being played in empty stadia, so I think it’s a fair comment.

Speak for yourself.

I watch the game of football for the skill of the players, not for the atmosphere or the crowd noise.

And if players need the motivation of the crowd to perform at their best, they shouldn’t be doing the job. They should be giving 100% all of the time.

And yet in probably every major sport we acknowledge the impact of home advantage. Are professional athletes just systematically lazier when playing away from home? They should be giving 100% all of the time.

Many other factors to be taken into consideration, especially the effect of the crowd on the officials.

alot of kind words from Bobby there about the Liverpool fans and what they bring to the club,

so how about giving yourself a shake,
stop bemoaning the loss of the Anfield crowd who cheers you on
and create the atmosphere you revel in,

and start playing to your full skill level again,
and give something back to the fans you love so much,
time to you put a smile on our faces,
because for some time now you havent been doing that
