Russian War Crimes (Part 1)

Putin’s objective has been clear for a while and much discussed in this thread…The military ones anyway. And obviously the assault against Kyiv is no smokescreen. It is a multi pronged campaign, full scale invasion with several fronts. The objective is regime change and political control over Ukraina.

Arms manufacturers caused the British to enslave half the world? The wars between the Soviet Union and Japan, China and Japan, Japanese Imperial expansion, Hitler rise etc etc. They no doubt had a part to play and of course their toys enable war to be fought but make no mistake, war is the dominion of mankind long before the modern age and military industrial complex. If there was no will to use those weapons they would not exist. The will exists and the strong take from those weaker than themselves when they know the bigger dog is just going to sit by and watch.

Again, I ask you. When has a policy of appeasement and concession of territory stopped a dictator or regime from wanting more when there are weaker and smaller neighbors unprotected by treaty? Hell, even protected by treaty. Hitler didn’t think GB and France would go to war over Danzig.

Rescue helo was also shot down.

I wish that were true Livvy but it does strike me as a little too much to claim. Otherwise, why is that massive column just north of Kiev not being hit. Alot of the destruction of columns seem to be have been achieved by tremendous application of the ground forces rather than being chewed up by air. I can’t see Ukrainians keeping back air assets rather than using them as they’re likely to be destroyed on the ground at some point.

Overall air superiority I doubt. Contested and ball shriveling would probably be my take.

it’s 1939. the war machine is steamrolling through it’s neighbor. it only took two days for GB and France to declare war. it took 6 years to stop the Nazi’s.

at what point during the invasion of the biggest country of Europe by it’s neighbor, does the rest of the world step in? 100 casualties? 1000 casualties? 10000 casualties? the compromising of a nuclear reactor which goes into meltdown and drops fallout over all of eastern Europe causing cancer rates to spike 1000-fold over a dozen countries?

When does the penny drop? Where is the line in the sand? how badly are things going to be allowed to get, before Western Europe intervenes for their own safety? Nato trade ships are being sunk in the black sea, presumably to keep opposing warships out?

Well, that’s exactly what I was arguing, isn’t it?

Never, but that’s not what I’m talking about. It’s about exerting weaponless resistance. Showing the soldiers who come down on you what fools they are, confronting them with their own stupidity, question their blind obedience to a principle of violence, talking to them by all means. Of course, risking your life while doing it.

It won’t stop the invasion, but in the long run, it could bear rewards while minimising the hatred on both sides. The shining example of this is of course Gandhi and the way how he managed to convince the occupants to leave on their own, without using violence against them. Only by resisting, by going on strike, by refusing to do what the occupants want, basically by annoying them.

My belief is that this is the only way to avoid or to get out of the eternal spiral of violence.

The year of Linux on the desktop will finally be a reality in Russia thanks to Putin!

I think they are holding back a lot to defend Kyiv later and get a lot of extra stuff that hasn’t been officially announced at all, also for tactical reasons imo.

Just saw a report that the 3 largest shareholders in Russia’s biggest bank were all from Kentucky.

The teacher’s pension was wiped out by 95% from 13 million to 778K.

if nobody ships the raw materials to China, they’re not going to be making much. Don’t be so sure that they’re untouchable.

I’d prefer if my country would go back to manufacturing. Life would be a hell of a lot easier. I think with the supply chain shortages currently happening around the world, we’ll see a return to that.
