That is a bit of a fallacy; correct in many facets but not one of arms as such. Much is made of the Poles capitulation in the beginning but it was really being stabbed in the back by Stalin, pretty much literally, that did them in such short order. France had a much bigger and also fairly modern army. The most numerous German tank at the beginning of the war was the Panzer ii which was comparable to many French tanks. Problem was that the French and English were still thinking in WW1 terms and couldn’t comprehend an armored thrust with significant air support breaking a lineand then still going hell for leather and with a conceived plan of a static line of defence that could ‘swing the gate’ into the Low Countries this proved fatal. The French panicked and were poorly led with one general even refusing to believe reports of a massive column that had become a sitting duck in the mother of all traffic jams and the rest, as we say, is history.
But I digress.

They just haven’t been the same since Napoleon, have they
@Bekloppt and @JU97ICE I understand the rationale of your arguments. However, the land for peace never really works. Israel just keeps gobbling up more and more territories. Also breaking national boundaries so that a certain ethnic group can live together will set a very dangerous precedence. I’m not referring just the Russian population in other countries; many, too many, ethnic groups are now sliced by national boundaries.
I hope and pray that the war ends soon.
Seriously, buckle in for some grand stereotyping …all that 1938-1940 teaches us is that you can’t trust the Russians, the Italians will support whichever side is winning, the French will fight providing the other side agrees not to hit them in the face, the Brits are nearly always up for a rumble and prepared to take on a bully, but only if they hurt their bessie mate, the US will first want to make money out of any conflict before they have to get dirty, and the Chinese will just take the opportunity to go on manoeuvres whilst everyone else is distracted.
…and the Brits do love a stereotype
The courage of these people just beggars belief.

Why don’t the Russians just donate part of their hardware. Easier for both the parties to get the stuff.
