Is Biden himself a war criminal?
No, but he represents a state which has been guilty of multiple war crimes over the last decades, and of which he has beens a high representative or executive. As a senator, he voted in favour of the war in Iraq for instance. I’m yet to hear any kind of excuse from him or any US government towards the Iraqui people for the chaos they have to live in since they were invaded on a totally fallacious pretext. Hundreds of thousands dead civilians, and a country impoverished beyond anything imaginable before they came in. And don’t get me started on Afghanistan or Lybia.
I know, people will state that this is whataboutery, but it’s hypocritical for any US president to call out others as war criminals without acknowledging all the suffering inflicted by his own country on others, and asking for forgiveness.
There have been several occasions recently where I’ve tried to find a Mock the Week clip from about 15 years ago. I think it was either Hugh Dennis or Frankie Boyle. They were discussing how “touchy” Muslim fundamentalists can be, particularly if there was the suggestion that Islam was a religion of violence. It went something like this,
“If you dare claim that Islam is a religion of violence we’re going to chop your fucking head off”.
Putin reminds me of that. “How dare you call me a war criminal! Me? With my reputation?”
Hah. Just morphed into some Fast Show there…
