There’s no one who would win in this. That if anything is the sad reality.
Sanctions also serve to legitimize Putin in the eyes of their people as well. It’s very easy to convert people into a us vs them mindset. The focus should be on negating Putin’s influence on his own people and not taking steps which will only serve to increase his popularity
BS it is your propaganda how you see this conflict fine if you post something no problem but This tsunami of the same messages is over the top.
To post things on the conflict is the very object of this thread. If you don’t like Magnus’ messages, it’s very simple: ignore them (or ignore the thread altogether, your choice).
Or state my opinion
So sanctions wouldnt mean the US tells other countries not to deal with Russia. They would say these entities are sanctioned and anyone dealing with them directly or indirectly are barred from USD transactions. Now Turkey may be able to do a USD transaction with Russia on the side without recourse to the Fed but the minute and Turkish bank processes such a transaction they would also be sanctioned.
The USD is by far the reserve currency of the world. Alternate currencies are far far in the future. Neither bitcoin nor the Yuan has any legitimacy beyond rogue regimes and experimental transactions.
And derailing the thread by doing so? Nope, please!
That never bothers, it happens all the time but now you have a problem with it.
It tells me something, but I have asked nicely, that is all I can do.
Sigh…
This would really help Putin sell his conspiracies of genocide against Russians. Prob not a good idea.
Russia is vastly superior, but Ukraine had/has significant hardware too. For me, it reeks of unpreparedness.
He would have to be willing to back that up with action, and he isn’t. No one wants to see American troops fighting Russian troops, and Putin knows it.
There is nothing any one can do here.
Putin is aggressively playing his hand (Crimea, Syria, Ukraine, etc) and US/UK/others can only watch and issue some sanctions which Russia wont care about.
I still don’t quite understand the point of the invasion
Rebuild Russia to its glorious USSR days.
You keep repeating debunked Russian propaganda. This is hardly the time or the place for it.
But how? Demographically and economically that just doesn’t stack up
" David Davis, the Conservative former Brexit secretary (and a former SAS reservist), has said that retaliating against Russia with sanctions will not be enough and that, in order to prevent Ukraine being defeated, the UK should “provide air support to the Ukrainian army”.
That would effectively mean the RAF bombing, or threatening to bomb, Russian military positions."
Utter madness.
Is there even any meaningful sanctions on Russia yet???
Although I know thats probably the only thing the rest will do in reality, if sanctions would work, it would have worked during Crimea then. Now, its only a matter of how much and how far Putin wants to take this. I would even go as far and believe that the rest of the West would be more than willing to sacrifice Ukraine if Russia would keep their aggression within Ukraine.
