Yeh, I had made that point when his arrival in Ukraine was first mentioned in here.

Still wouldnā€™t want to call him on a mobile and tell him heā€™s a dick if I was within 4 miles of him.

The reason why it naturally creeps up during war time is because of the amount of disingenuous arguments borrowing such a facade to push the boundaries of accepted views. Nuance falls by the wayside when any moderated support for a stance leads to increased support of a worse stance.

This isnā€™t just limited to wartime however, look at the political discourse of much of the last 40 years, especially since 2008ā€¦

So you think that these ā€œhardened criminal[s]ā€ have no hope of redemption, that they are fixed in who they are?

Yeah, those were my thoughts as well, although I didnt bother then to comment upon it. The idea that you are some sort of irredeemable monster because you have a criminal record is ethics from before year 1000 AD as far as I am concerned. Was a strange thing to get up in arms about. I doubt many Europeans sit up at night fearing escaped Ukrainian prisoners. Just bizarre really. Let them get their sentence commuted if the are willing no fight. I truly dont see the problem. Not surprised Indian papers highlights such pro Kremlin talking points though. More disappointed that Sith found it of note and decided it was worth talking about as something outrageous.

This story, unlike its subject, has legs.

At the EU summit, Zelenskyy briefly addresses each country individually, what he says about Hungary is telling. (Hungary bans weapon supplies to Ukraine through/on its territory.)

I can hazard a guess at that one, it wonā€™t be Russia.

because when Ukraine capitulates, their homes and communities are lost forever. Russia is trying to wipe their existence off the map. itā€™s militarized genocide and I cannot believe that itā€™s still happening. how much dirt does Putin have on these leaders of the West that they are literally powerless to intervene. Not to attack Russia, but to stop an insurgence to overthrow and annex a country thatā€™s been a sovereign nation for 30 years.

According to several Ukrainian analysts, it was the broadcast of a report on RT the previous day that would have allowed the Ukrainian authorities to halt and bomb Russian military boats present in the port of Berdyansk. Hence the importance of the image in wartime.
