Apparently damaged vehicles that are being pulled back to Russia.
Scorched earth policy.
Kill civilians, destroy food, destroy means to farm or do business.
I am war-tactics naive so just asking this question out of curiosity. In a long drawn battle, by just defending, Ukraine alone would most likely will not hold out indefinitely right? So why not strategically attack some parts of Russia (i mean like drop a few bombs on some cities along the borders)? Is that just not feasible from a resource point of view or that Ukraine does not want to destroy all chances of peace negotiations?
Thanks for posting Kopstar, that is a really powerful piece. While I completely understand and support his perspective and would likely say the same myself, for propaganda purposes it is just a shame that he said the bit about ‘not Russia, I’ll kill every one of those…’.
Bit of both I think. I expect if they receive more aircraft, drones and air support they will launch more sorties - they have likely done at least one to date. However I think they will probably try and keep it surgical as they will be wary of losing western backing if there are many reports of Russian civilians being killed. Absolutely unfair I know but I think international support and pressure are the only way they survive and they can’t afford to give any wavering government any excuses.
Yair Lapid, the foreign minister of Israel, which has been wary of antagonizing Moscow, said it was “impossible to remain indifferent in the face of the horrific images from the city of Bucha.”
“Intentionally harming a civilian population is a war crime and I strongly condemn it,” Mr. Lapid said.
Whilst ignoring the glaring hypocrisy of such a statement , can we at least hope now that the Israelis might start exerting some meaningful pressure on Russia to bring this barbarity to an end ?
I saw it with my own eyes and there were nowhere near 5000 cars. It was more like a large Turkish wedding of which we have many every weekend. My tram was held up for 4 or 5 minutes.
This city sees bigger demonstrations about cycle lanes.
The Tagesspiegel reports around 900. They are usually pretty reliable.
