It’s from the top, surely. I mean what did people think Denazification was going to be?
When one looks at the language and what happened in Donbass I have no idea what we were thinking letting Russia even set foot in Ukraine.
Oh but the nuclear threat, well fuck it it’s going to come one day or another. The fact that we are scared of this just shows what our ‘leaders’ believe about Putin and his regime. They have been duping the populace all this time and even celebrating the great power Putin.
Why is it fuckwits always win the day?
I am not sure, but on Kyiv&Chernihiv axis as well as Kharkiv, their losses are very, very high. Note this was just infantry fighting vehicles.
I’ve slightly amended the thread title. The Russians’ attempts at quickly invading the whole of Ukraine can now officially be called a failure I think, no matter how Putin tries to paintbrush it as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ (oh the irony…).
TikTok idiots again, Jeeez
I’ve amended the title for accuracy
Your welcome.
The 1st battle for Kyiv is over. There could be another coming up.
Ukraine can not keep this up forever and the battle for Donbass is likely to knock the stuffing out of them (particularly if noone does anything about the sea and skies). If Russia sees the chance it will go after Kyiv and Odessa again.
No celebrations from me, caution is required and a sense of realism!
Not sure how feasible this might be but I’d roll the dice on relieving Mariupol if I were Ukrainian command. Funnel just enough supplies in to have to make the Russians commit more and more and throw what part of the kitchen sink can be spared at them.
Too risky imo but possible. They would have to attack from the north with Russian troops to the east and west with good supply routes from Donbass and Crimean penisula respectively.
Mariupol has done it’s job and a lot more and I just can not bring myself to imagine what’s going to happen to those poor sods.
Russia are amassing troops to attack from the north and south of Donbass Ukraine will need all they have to prevent the Donesk front line from not being cut off. This is the priority and as we have seen their command don’t roll dice or take unnecessary risks (unlike the Russans) They just don’t have the manpower or the tactical ability (thinking of air support and cover here).
Of course, we can see it that way from the outside, but that the Ukrainians need the feeling of a small victory for themselves and their country at least now, for everything they have achieved so far, is completely understandable. So when a Ukrainian journalist writes something like that, it’s probably out of the emotion that no one ever thought they were capable of holding out for so long.
To be honest, when the Russian troops were approaching Kiev and looking like they could encircle it, I already saw Zelensky’s head eventually brought on a plate to Moscow for Putin’s dinner. It was very courageous to hold on there and imo, played a decisive role. Had he left the capital for the west of the country when it looked increasingly dangerous to stay on, it would have been the signal that he accepted defeat. Instead of it, he stayed put and inspired everyone to hold on. It’s a victory, no doubt about that, and Putin looks like a complete idiot, no matter what he says.
Maybe a provisory victory, but for the time being, they can be proud to have held their ground. For the outcome of the current battle in Eastern Ukraine, I guess that much will now depend on how much EU and US armament and other material can go to Ukraine, and how fast. But @Magnus and a few others will know more about that. It could be a long, long affair…
Yes a victory is still a victory and this one was a big victory. I hope this battle victory gives an immense moral boost to whom it concerns and hope the war is eventually won.
