Having seen what the Russian army can do in Ukraine, I’m not sure what sort of threats they could muster against Sweden and Finland seeing as they are already struggling in 1 country, trying to add 2 more would just be a case of Russia asking to have their pants pulled down in front of the world

The problem for Russia is that they have no exit strategy, so as long as they try to control Ukraine, the local population will continually fight them which will mean they need to keep troops on the ground. They will stand no chance of having troops in Ukraine and trying to also fight Sweden and Finland, and if they do try, then what do Russia do when Georgia ro Azerbajan start making noises about joining Nato?

Or Uzbeckistan, or Kazakstan, or Tajikistan? They do not have the militry strength or size to keep these countries from joining Nato if they were to choose to do so.

Must say that the open terrain at ports makes it indefensible once an attacker is close so not really a surprise.
