800kg of metal and high explosive is not being troubled by a balloon. As you said, limited success. They’re great against propellers but not 600mph rockets and that’s before you go hypersonic.
Saw a load of V2 rockets at White Sands years ago, fascinating place. The guidance systems would have looked antiquated on the ark.

Russia’s pathetic attempts to explain the sinking of their ship is a bit like saying a ship hit by a torpedo wasn’t sunk by the torpedo but because the ship filled with water.

Also dishonours the memory of the crew of the vessel. Basically reduces the individual servicemen to little more than chattel. Not that I give a fuck about Russian troops any longer but it’s not particularly morale boosting to them as a whole. They’re basically in a position where they’re risking life and limb and indirectly being told that the Kremlin doesn’t care if they live or die and if they do buy it then whatever bravery or skill they showed in battle will be disavowed to keep the state from looking bad.
No armed service is going to be particularly motivated to perform over and above with such an attitude from the top. No wonder the whole thing has been such a farce.

I read WW2 accounts of what it was like to be in the Navy. Being trapped on a sinking boat has to be one of the worst ways to die. Even If you got out burning oil etc.
Whilst I am glad they sunk that ship. I still feel sorry for those Russian sailors. Quicker Ukraine and West can end this war the better.

It is telling that the Russian people were lied to about what happened with that ship - in the immediate hours after the explosion/attack, the Russian media was denying that the Ukrainians had hit it, and stating that the crew had been evacuated. With the casualty reports now emerging, it is clear that the Moskva was not evacuated. It appears to have gone down while being towed, with the crew working to keep it afloat.
