I think the nuclear sabre-rattling is in part a response to the fact that some military observers are saying that the no-fly zone that was an impossibility a week ago now looks quite feasible, in light of the disastrously poor performance of Russian AWACS technology in particular.
The situation is quite possibly entering its most dangerous phase, in global terms.

Thinking back on Truss’ statement this morning, I wonder if it was more aimed at Putin. We will let those who want to fight across to the Ukraine now, i.e. special forces, who won’t officially be under the UK banner, will be allowed to come across.
Maybe too much Navy Seals/Mission Impossible or giving the UK government too much credit?

I mean… if we take out Putin and it leads to war with Europe… but no nukes are used, is that better or worse than Putin using nukes? Because if he does, I also think that means world War, but with nukes on the table. It’s terrifying.
The answer is probably that russians have to do it (or at least appear to be the ones to do it). This is really horrible. How the hell did we get here?
OK after the first shock is gone a bit, I think he just wants to really really scare us. But he can’t be successful with that, right?!
