Russian War Crimes (Part 1)

No detonation as far as I know but there would be radioactive material spread out in the impact zone but no fallout, as such.

They can’t be successfully intercepted. No one has that capability. It is experimental technology. The US believes it can intercept a few, North Korean ICBMs if interceptors are on high alert. There is no intercepting Russia but the odd nuke, perhaps. Forget it, we still live in the world of MAD. Every single expert on missile technology I read are saying this in total agreement. From doctor Lewis, to James Acton to basically everyone else. Missile defense against modern ICBMs is a myth.
I have read enough to say this with 100% certainty.
GMD must be in perfect interception position to even work and at the highest alert. There is no defence against Russian nukes. Do not even harbour the thought:

ā€œThe American Ground-Based Midcourse Defense System (GMD), formerly known as National Missile Defense (NMD), was first tested in 1997 and had its first successful intercept test in 1999. Instead of using an explosive charge, it launches a hit-to-kill kinetic projectile to intercept an ICBM. The current GMD system is intended to shield the United States mainland against a limited nuclear attack by a rogue state such as North Korea. GMD does not have the ability to protect against an all-out nuclear attack from Russia, as there are 44 ground-based interceptors deployed in 2019 against any crossing projectiles headed toward the homeland. (This interceptor count does not include the THAAD, or Aegis, or Patriot defenses against directly incoming projectiles.)ā€

MAD will work. I doubt Putin is crazier than some of the Soviet leaders.
The nuclear is just typical Russian blackmail that they fall back on. It’s a sign of weakness.

Will work…as a deterent…

Rather than, will work as in it’s mutually assured

Nuclear weapons are all about deterrent. NATO has much too much nukes for Russia to even contemplate using them against NATO unless they have totally lost contact with reality and want to see the world end.
I don’t think we are in Dr. Strangelove territory yet.

I’m waiting for Elon to confirm he’s got a system that will destroy nuclear ICBMs. He just wants 10 trillion dollars and be crowned Emperor of the World.

RU hammering Kherson defences:

I agree, Thom Nichols said it well earlier today. Don’t fall for it and don’t play Russia’s game. There is no real need to put nuclear arsenal on high alert. There are enough SSNs running around the ocean for Russia to not do anything stupid like Nuclear Genocide.

Vladimir Putin has done what was rumoured yesterday, sacked Chief of Staff general Gerasimov.

Reminds me of how Stalin sacked his first general during the Winter War.

Battle of Kharkiv, Tigr’s burning.

Gerasimov bloody looks like Teddy Atlas.

:joy:

Massive RU column inbound for Kyiv:

its almost too obvious…

Probably Slovak modernised MIG-29. Ukraine has the training to fly them.

About that Russian Nuclear high alert. I think Thom Nichols says it wisely. Best is to ignore it and not play their escalation game:
