I keep seeing abandoned RU equipment. Why?
I have a hard time believing they ran out of fuel.
Very, very much so. RU forces have obviously received new directives. It is crystal clear. From now on, everything will become a lot more violent and civilian casualties will spike dramatically as RU blanket bombs and cluster bombs urban areas.
They DID run out of fuel several places, it has been reported a lot, also in this thread. Logistic are bad, overstretched and getting bombed a lot by Ukraine. RU forces are foraging/looting many places.
Have a look at how many logistic trucks they have lost. Logistics is the main target for Ukraine’s drones, main target for their artillery.

definitely a different set of instructions now. this isn’t guerilla warfare. Putin knows he cannot take Ukraine politically, so he’s going to decimate the cities and take it by force. fucking asshole.

This is the part I’m struggling with too, a few years ago there was a video of a Ukrainian drone that flew across the border that showed Russian military build up for some exercise, it last for about 2 minutes, showing how quick the Russians had reacted and shot it down whilst also having planes dispatched within those 2 minutes …etc and it seemed an impressive response time ( not that I’m familiar with such things) but I’ve read enough posts from people who claim to be ex US/British military etc on another website that state it was fairly quick…and yet all of a sudden Russia seems completely shit at defending it’s military equipment .
And that is not to dispute Ukrainian defences, as they have been battling beyond everything that anyone expected, but surely Russia would have had a lot better intel on Ukrainian defences ? From all these videos it seems that Russia would fall tomorrow if the Faroe Islands decided to invade them

Ukraine uses drones and Russian logistics are overstretched because they did not plan for war but a special military operation. By now, obviously, according to their planning, there would have been a Quisling coup in Kyiv. RU Spetznas and sabouteur teams were defeated and several traitors arrested and the plan went to hell. So had several units out and abouts with air defence coverage. They have not until now been attacking in BTG formations, but many smaller formations except in the south. You can read analysis of this from both Kofman and Lee that I have posted above.
EMP weapons you speculate about is a myth as well. There is no NATO EWAR in Ukraine and RU air losses have been very kinetic.

Cheers Magnus, it’s horrible the whole thing, and weird because I check these updates here and elsewhere for some better understanding and as horrible as it is to check it’s almost addictive if that makes sense , because if you don’t check you feel you’ve missed something important

One of the reasons that Western intel outside the US was skeptical was because the logistical train wasn’t there for a sustained attack, fuel dumps being one of those undetected observables.
It also looks like the Russian REMFs are getting pasted repeatedly. My guess is that the US are running AWACS just inside Polish and Romanian airspace, coordinating satellite data and handing over targeting coordinates in damn near real time for Ukrainian strikes. I just don’t see how these supply units are getting hit by drones otherwise.

It truly is horrible. Even at the height of the Cold War, I never thought of the Russians as ‘the Enemy’. Too much shared blood spilled in a shared cause for that, regardless of their government. Seeing these Russian conscript teenagers getting cut to pieces is horrific.

There are also a lot of drones in the air, small surveilance drones. Many thousands. And Ukrainian civilians report on RU movement as well. Otherwise, yes, they are getting a lot of Western Intel.
I know many Russians. I love them. For me it’s awful. Having been a conscript I can also relate to RU conscripts.
