When Ukraine talks about the potential liberation of occupied territories, does that include those occupied/annexed from 2014?

Ignoring fake plebiscites, what do people think these populations would think about that?

Not sure about the Donbas region, but the few Ukrainians I know through work seem to think that Crimea’s population want to return to being Ukrainian, but the kicker is Russia’s naval base there.

I’d like to think having been forced to mobilise and being used as little more than cannon fodder they have come to realise that being in the embrace of Mother Russia is pretty shit.

I think that Russia has already intimated that any effort to re-take the Crimea would be viewed in Moscow as an attack on its sovereignty , with all the implications for its stated national defence policy. i.e. the threat of using nuclear weapons.

Now that would be one serious game of chicken for Ukraine to contemplate.

The Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle isn’t really a rifle in the traditional sense. It’s a MAAWS. Swedish-made, I think the ones the Ukrainians are using have been donated by Canada although maybe other countries have also sent them to Ukraine?

Not nearly as sexy as the Javelins and Stugnas. Instead of playing a video game on a small screen, firer usually ends up with a nose or ear bleed.

Superb article from the Donbass frontline.
