Sadio MANÉ: 2020/21

To be perfectly honest, of the front 3, Mane is the least I’m worried about for the next few years. Salah is a fantastic goalscorer and it’s his numbers that are a big part of him. Mane needs to work on his accuracy again and raise those numbers up (he will not have 26 goals per season every year, but at least 15 should be his target). But I’d still trust his all round game for a few more years for sure.

I’m probably in the camp that thinks selling the asset if their form starts slipping for more than a month… it’s a ruthless game, we need to be ruthless…

I’d expand but I’ve gotta fuck off to get my YNWA tattoo finished.

I think somebody recovering from Covid is a tough deal.

Throw in the fact that for an elite athelete whose lungs (should normally) operate at a level most of us could only dream of I am not surprised this lung affecting illness has caused mayhem to Mane

How easy to forget.

Easy to forget how much football that front 3 played over the last few years.

Also compared to the big difference between them and their backups (up until Jota).

Of course, part of that is our selection in the first place, players who can play that way and endure that way (who are also professionals). But also quite a slice of luck, for sure.

I guess him, Salah, and Keita will have a proper break this summer.

Thanks, nice reminder. Crazy the season he had after such a summer.

He’s still not at his best but he’s looked a bit better recently, certainly sharper. His confidence still appears low but physically he’s looking more like the old Mane we know.

So disgusted that Kevin Friend was determined not give any foul against Mane while he was being hacked down regularly. Frankly, I was dreading the goal will be disallowed for Mane jumping too high, or something like that.

Looked a lot sharper. Hopefully the goal gives him a confidence boost for the run in. We need Mane firing on all cylinders. On his day he’s the most devastating player in the league, but those days have been few and far between this season.

Mané’s goal was high stress moment, ‘what will they find?’.
Even my commentators where repeating 'No not offside, no fouls committed, didn’t look at the ref sideway, … .

Keita has had a proper break for 3 seasons.

Yeah I didn’t celebrate it at all, I expected it would be not given, Thiago I did

True that.

The more I see from him, the more I like him as a person

I was looking for a more recent compilation. This guy has incredible work-rate, the number of times he won the ball around our own box is phenomenal.

Firecracker.

I agree and disagree with you both - last season Mane was better than Salah and I’d maintain if we have to sell one of the two this summer to fund a Mbappe type then i’d sell Mo (mainly cos he’d bring more cash) but also because I’d give Mane another six months to recover and get his beast back. He was an absolutely critical part of our league win last season although I’d also agree that he was better in 2019 than 2020 and there remains a real risk that his best days may be behind him.
Wtf… sell them both! Keep them! Buy championship manager player x! As Mascot said, thank fuck we have an excellent team looking at all this.

Mane was still an amazing player in 2020. If he was better in 2019 it wasn’t by much, the difference is certainly not enough to be considered significant, especially when considering the lock down and already having the title sewn up.

Before he caught covid this season his previous two games were Chelsea and Arsenal. He produced match winning performances in both, winning MOTM in both, and his overall play was at a world class standard in those games.

Yeah he hasn’t looked great since that which is concerning.

Hopefully a summer rest will help him.

Maybe he needs just head them in from now on.
