Updated after Matchday 4:
After a late Mo Salah penalty to secure the 3p on matchday 4, Liverpool are 4 points better off this season compared to same games last season.

That being said, we have created far less in terms of xG. This season the chances created should have statistically given us 6,25 goals. Against the same opponents last season we should have had 11.35 - in other words more than 5 goals more. However, given better efficiency and/or luck this season, the actual goals scored are very simular - 9 vs 10.

Defensively its been better - and acutal conceeded goals are very close to xGA - both this season and last

Funfacts:

  • The 3 opponents before 1st international break, have played 9 games - 3 each - besides playing Liverpool. They are undefeated in those 9 games, conceding 1 goal combined.
Bournemouth won 3 of 3. Conceded 1 goals in those 3 games
Arsenal won 3 of 3. Conceded 0 goals in those 3 games
Newcastle 1 win & 2 draws out of 3. Conceded 0 goals in those 3 games

  • Scott Parker took charge of Burnley in july 2024. He was undefeated at Turf Moor for 1 year and 3 months in all competitions. That came to an end on sunday with the 0-1 defeat.

The comparison will use the 2025/26 fixture list vs exact same opponent/game last season.
The relegated teams are substitued with promoted teams from Championship.

Leicester (18th PL) replaced by Leeds (1st Championship)
Ipswich (19th PL) replaced by Burnley (2nd Championship)
*Southampton (20th PL) replaced by Sunderland (Championship Play-off winner)

The damn forest game.

4 points up already?

It’s early days and there are lots of new players. I was expecting us to drop points early on (which could still happen, I suppose.

Cheers for setting this up, @Isak . It will be interesting to see how it goes. :+1:

Yeah thanks @Isak. A statto as well as a goalscorer it would seem!

Well Ange is now at the wheel, getting by their defence will no longer be a problem :rofl::rofl:

Beating Arsenal was massive. It’ll be understated because of how early in the season it was, but it was an issue we constantly had, where we were drawing too many games against our direct title rivals.

Hopefully Egypt gets knocked out of Afcon early.

Sorry Mo.

@Isak Cheers for taking this over, but the formatting could use some work, especially when viewed on a mobile device.

Good man. When we pay 125m for you, @Prolix expects more than just goals

For that much, he better be the tea lady as well.

We do have a gruelling first 12 games.

Burnley aside…

We face the bitters at home , the fa cup winners palace away , Chelsea away , united who always seem to come to park the bus at anfield , Brentford , villa , man City , the dreaded Nottingham forest.

If we are there in the running (1 or 2 points behind if not in front after these games. Then we can afford to dream again

A few weeks back it was, we do have a gruelling (terrible spelling retained) first 15 games.

What is spelled wrong?

Actually more of British / American, with gruelling being the British version. It is also spelt and not spelled you foreign speaking mod, however it could be argued in your favor by some ass kissing poster trying to curry favor (not to be confused with curry flavor) towards a wielder of an impressive ban hammer (girth and length) :innocent:

It seems I cannot edit my own topic post, pressumably because im new on here.
Which I assume means I cannot update untill I reach some kind of milsteone?!

Score a hat-trick against Burnley and I’m sure the mods will give you the keys to TAN

Yeah, I think that you have to reach a certain number of posts. I’ll try to check this and come back to you.

Ok, as you’ve started a useful thread here, I’ve exceptionally elevated your status to full member, despite of your short time with us (no, you didn’t need to score a hat-trick against Burnley… . Now you should be able to edit your opening post. Tell me if it works.
