Did that go through in the end? I thought that it was impossible for investors to own several clubs at the same time, for obvious reasons of conflict of interest?
Look at City. It only becomes an issue that needs to be resolved when they’re in the same competition.
I must admit that I’ve lost the oversight. Do Abu Dhabi own other major clubs apart from Cheaty? If yes, I wasn’t aware of that…

They have Melbourne City, NY City, a team in Mumbai, Sao Paulo and a few others, but none in Europe as far as I remember

They do. 3 others so far - Girona in Spain, Troyes in France, and some other club in the Belgium. Although I believe they are not majority shareholders in Girona.

There was definitely something dodgy about the Girona deal seeing as the other major owner at the time was Pep’s brother. So far it looks to be more a player development scam, than an attempt to do in the other leagues what their doing with City, but that is still wildly open to abuse, as we saw with the Lampard/NYC/City shenanigans.

I can see the PL and La Liga looking at this and thinking that’s an idea.
