The fact that many of the clubs in the PL will be going after City, through the legal system, speaks to how City really screwed up the league for years. The mess that this is going to make, alone, should get City banned from the league.

Minimum punishment should be a 114 points deduction to send them to the championship next season.
Iām hoping and they deserve much worse of course.
My expectation is that unfortunately they will be punished financially, a transfer ban and something like a 40 points deduction to keep them in the league but away from Europe.
For now - theyāve been declared officially cheats and Iām trying to enjoy that as much as possible.

Nah, every home supporter gets a red A4 card with a large single white asterisk on it.
One giant sea of them. Then again at every ground they visit for the rest of the season.

I agree they will find a way to wriggle out of it by only paying a humongous fine just like they did with the UEFA charges.

Of course they will appeal, but as their appeal options are limited to the PL Appeals Board and the UK High Court how long would the appeal likely take? Presumably, any punishment would have to be deferred until after the appeals process has been exhausted.
We could be looking at another couple of years before anything comes of this, in which time the cheating bastards might win the league once or twice again. If that were to happen, would it be possible to apply the punishment retroactively so that any league title win this season or next would be scrubbed?

The celebrating today is great, but I have a feeling that this could get very messy indeed, and it could be a mess that everybody gets dragged into.
Clubs are going to end up suing left right and centre - weāve missed out on titles, but teams have missed out on European qualification, league placing etc. What about teams that were relegated on the six points they shipped to city? Or what about player bonuses. How much money have Liverpool players miss out on in bonuses over the years. Itās going to be carnage.
This could mire the Premier League in litigation for decades, and tarnish the product for the 19 other teams.
But itās worth remembering that, while the Premier League have done well to stick these charges, the ultimate fault here lies with The Premier League. They welcomed nation state ownership into the league with open arms, failed to introduce any measures to control them and then acted affronted when they behaved as they were always fucking going to.

Yes, itās going to get very messy indeed.
The way I see it is there should be two separate forms of justice enacted. First, whatever happens to Man City needs to hit them hard. To my mind, multiple years of cheating, and multiple years of non-cooperation, demand a sanction that sinks them for multiple years. If they have a one year hiatus away from the big time, it is unjust. Titles should be stripped too.
Beyond that, Man City should be required to fund a pot that should be managed by a carefully chosen committee, then all lawsuits should be funded from that. It keeps it contained, somewhat, and time bound. If some sort of measure like this does not happen, setting out a structure and a timeline, it will rumble on for many more years to come.
