Summer 2024 Transfer Window

Angelo from Chelsea to Al-Nassr for €23m.

Angelo, labelled a “wonderkid” when he signed, was seen by some journalists as a sign that Chelsea had a long term gameplan and were snapping up top Brazilian talent before other clubs even looked. Much was written about how he already had over 100 senior appearances to his name at 18 (civerage which largely ignored that he was not playing well for Santos).

Anyway 12 months later and they’ve binned him.

Making an £8m profit from Saudi on a player who could barely get a kick at Strasbourg.

Nothing to see. Move along.

Victor said he would not play for Napoli again,Napoli priced him out of the market, some Saudi club not sure if it was ah hilal 70mil and massive wages , think Chelsea offered the sametransfer fee, his release clause is 130 mill , Napoli are really bonkers of club, only reason he going to turkey is because they don’t want to pay his 150k week wages for sitting on bench

Kerem Akturkoglu from Galatasaray to Benfica for €12m.

Nothing to see about Clearlake balancing the books by insider trading with their partners

Need you to verify for me whether there is a Prince Yokofaga Calebo in Nigeria? He was asking me about an investment scheme.

But Osimhen transfer is strange path and wonder this loan will kill his career as he does have a pretty excellent goal record. But kudos in a way that he refused the filthy wages offered to him by the SA team, even though he is still young, that kind of life altering money is not easy to reject

Steven Bergwijn from Ajax to Al-Ittihad for €21m.

Some people around him were concerned about the move being a career dead end for him so he reminded them, “lads, I played at Spurs for 2 years. This will be fine.”

Im fascinated with this transfer window. It isnt just that spending in the big leagues is WAY down, but we have players like Matip and Rabiot both available on a free and still unclaimed. Clubs are clearly being way more cautious than in previous years even to the degree of staying clear of talented players on a free whose salaries come with some level of risk.

Alex Telles, who an excited Man Utd fan once told me “shits all over Robertson” is a free agent.

Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial too… I wonder if there a connective element to these three players ruined reputations. A club they all played for maybe?

There was a beautiful Koeman style dig in those comments where he said he didnt understand the decision and wasnt one he made as a player (to put money before sport). But then he was capable of playing for Barca and if Bergwijn was capable of that maybe he wouldnt have made this move either :joy:

He is such a petty bitch.

Omer Beyaz from Stuttgart to Basaksehir on a free.
Joane Gadou from PSG to RB Salzburg for €10m.
Lucas Ocampos from Sevilla to Monterrey for €7.2m.
Sofiane Boufal from Al-Rayyan to Union SG on a free.
Stuart Armstrong from Southampton to Vancouver on a free.

Just looked at a list of players who are currently without a club:

There are some really good players there.

And Anthony Martial.

@Nikola thought they were amazing signings for said club, probably.

You’re completely on your own here

Casemiro and Martial had pretty good debut seasons, I think both of them helped Man United finish in top four… And Depay, if I remember correctly, rejected the move to Liverpool in order to join Man United, further compounding my misery at the time. I didn’t think it would ever get better, I admit.

@Sweeting sometimes jokes really are based on real life after all

RIP @Nikola but hey at least we know that United are doomed to be a joke for this season at least given how positive you are about them at the moment
