Interesting take from Vickery

A player who is a lock, not withstanding injury, to play for Brazil in the world. Someone whose strengths are seeing the game quickly enough to make good partnerships with the elitist of players, and a tactical versatility that can see him play in many positions.

My take - West Ham where none of that will be used. He’s going to stand around trying to find someone to pass it to, get bumped around the park with moyes failing to figure out how to use him, and get loaned to Sevilla next summer.

It’ll be interesting to see if Moyes changes his formation, perhaps going to a 4-2-3-1 with Rice and Soucek at the base of midfield, or maybe a 4-3-3.

Either way, I can see Paqueta working well with Fornals and Bowen, who are both intelligent players with good movement.

If I’m honest that’s how it sounds.

It also required them to put numerous already contracted player out to pasture without plans for the exit nor a care for what happens to them. It requires a certain cashflow to enable it, but also an attitude to players as people that not only do we not share, our refusal to take that stance is viewed as a positive with regard to recruitment of the players we want. Some of those cast aside players have found themselves somewhere to land, but PSG are content to have those who dont waste away a season training by themselves like lepers.

Fofana to Chelsea looks done.

7 year contract - ridiculous!

Meanwhile, and further to this; BBC reporting;

Tiemoue Bakayoko… remember him?

Chelsea signed the French midfielder on a long-term contract from Monaco in 2017. The 28-year-old has spent the last four seasons out on loan and now transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio is reporting that he’s trying to be released from the final year of his Chelsea contract.

Hasn’t stopped them signing Wesley Fofana on a seven-year deal.

If Fofana flops, he’ll suffer a similar fate to Bakayoko.

Weirdly, this is the second year of a two year loan spell to Milan, which came with the option to buy. This would be the 6th year since he left Monaco for Chelsea, and if Chelsea expect Milan to buy him from them that would suggest his contract is still good through next season (otherwise why would Milan “buy” him at the end of this year if his contract with Chelsea was expiring). So, either he signed a 7 year contract when he signed, or a player who was pushed out after 1 season somehow signed an extension during that exile

And Fofana only played 38 PL matches in two plus seasons. Talented fellow but hasn’t showed the discipline yet. Likes to get forward and play like a midfielder. That’s a lot of coin for a 21 yo. Let’s see if he can get into and stay in the side.

Almost all of his missed appearances were down to a broken leg suffered in pre-season last year that kept him out until March.

Tuchel likes to play 3 at the back with a safety first approach, so plenty of room for that type of player. Plus T Silva is proabably in his final year.
