Summer Transfer Window 2023

There was a rumour a week or two back that Son was being approached by a middle eastern club about a move once his contract ends in a year or two. If true that this is an immediate move, I wonder where the driver for this move came from ?

Saudis have money. Spurs need money. 1+1=2. I think that is the logic behind these rumours. No on bothering to think about the player’s ambitions, etc.

Spurs without both Kane & Son this season would be funny.

They’ll be rocking with a front 3 of Richarlison Kuluevski and Parrott

So what would you say Kane’s and Son’s ambitions are given they’ve won nothing their entire careers and are both 30, may aswell fuck off to Saudi earning big bucks winning nothing that staying at Spurs earning a fraction…winning nothing.

It’s funny isn’t it.

On the one hand we as fans bemoan the lack of loyalty in the game and get annoyed when our players agitate and force through moves they think will benefit their careers. We’re talking about you here Phil.

But on the other we deride players who are loyal but their teams come up short when it comes to winning the games biggest prizes. Was Gerrard lacking ambition when he turned down Chelsea?

We also laugh at leagues like Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga where one team pretty much hoovers up the majority of trophies available because the competition is so distorted. Does Harry Kane show ambition by pushing for a move to Bayern or is he “off to a farmer’s league” where medals are so easy to come by people don’t even seem to see them as worthy of note.

Staying loyal to a club doesn’t always mean a lack of ambition. It can just be ambition that isn’t realised.

I think we can scratch him off our list then. No way that we’ll be paying a sum that is anywhere near Van Dijk’s for him, as talented as he might be.

Who knows what “record” means, I highly doubt he’ll be that expensive. Might be a record for a young player or a midfielder.

I never had an issue with Phil & don’t to this day (it’s a little different with Sterling & Torres as they went to rivals but again I understand their point of view as players to want to have something to show at the end of your career), I always felt he was well within his rights to move on…we were going nowhere as a club and he took an offer which was/is impossible to ignore for 99% of players, he moved on & did what he did at Barca & Bayern and I’ll never discredit him for that, we moved on and we did what we did…Phil leaving played a huge part in our recent success whether we like to admit it or not. This is where a club also has to decide if they think they’d be better off cashing in and rebuilding…if a player moves it’s usually because it suits both parties.

You ask if Gerrard was lacking ambition staying with us instead of moving elsewhere to win (more) trophies he never won here, perhaps yes…he certainly put sentiment ahead of his own personal goals and as a result he holds his name as arguably the greatest ever we’ve had…that wouldn’t have happened if he left for Chelsea when they came calling & Stevie has said a few times he was very close to aligning himself with the devil.

Kane or Son going to Bayern or PSG winning the league there, at least he’d have something to show for his efforts over his career…bigger chance of winning the CL too which is by no means easy to come by for any team.

If Arsenal sign this guy, does that mean they are no longer after Rice or are they looking to get both?

That Saudi League looks set on emptying out the PL in the next couple of seasons… Transfer fees are going to go through the roof

Well, presumably emptying out any league whose players are prepared to sign on the dotted line. If that’s what they want to do, then fine. It’s not as if we will be forced to watch it.

It’s a sellers market.

Good luck to them, fleece Arsenal

All they’re doing is clearing the debts of the world’s biggest clubs by taking away the deadwood at exorbitant fees.

What I hadn’t thought through is how Son must view the circus around Kane’s potential departure - and the tacit assumption in the English press that the Obedient Asian would not be thinking anything similar. If Kane walks out, Son is wasting his last couple of peak years on a rebuilding Spurs team, and could be forgiven for having little confidence in the architect.

A load of uneven teams where they have top goal scorers of the past playing with the likes of Jonny Evans and Karl Darlow at the back.

Oh and throw in some managers who you thought may have died.

Someone close to the club (Ornstein perhaps?) was quoted yesterday as saying that Partey will follow Xhaka through the exit door, meaning that they probably want two new midfielders. There’s a hint of our business when Klopp was rebuilding the side inherited from Rodgers about them, they seem to be building that will peak together age-wise. Not sure if Lavia is a regular starter for a side that challenges for PL but I can see why they would be going for him.

Also, The Telegraph have just reported that Arsenal would make a 90 million pounds offer for Rice.

Where are Arsenal getting all this money? Havertz Rice Lavia & now Timber. WTF?

Looks like the failure of last season really spurring the Kroenke’s on ambition wise.

So far they haven’t signed any if these players though, its just rumours.

But they’re a North London club, with a big stadium, minimal debt and some dodgy commerical deals with the likes of the Government of Rwanda so theyaren’t short of a bob or two.

They entered last season with Partey, Xhaka, Elneny and Lokonga. Xhaka is gone, Jorginho is in but old, Elneny is Elneny, Lokonga will go on another loan and Partey is quality but isn’t getting younger.

I have a funny feeling this is all smoke and mirrors from Edu & Kroenke to keep their deluded fans gassed (which is not hard tbf). We’re being dazzled by shiny mirrors right now, but they’ll just end up signing smoke.
